Not sure if the brush-on one can be painted over or not?

Brush-on would be quicker, but the tube applied stuff could be injected deep into a seam so unless all the seams were pretty tight I'd probably opt for the latter.

There are other brands, best have a look online for product reviews by car resto people.

Both will do the same job, prior to the late 1980's brush on seam sealers were all the go on factory production lines, later automated systems applying it via a gun and then later via robotics took hold.

 

Sikaflex urethane is now the standard in modern body shops, and if you want a period brush stroke effect using it on an S30, simply apply a bead along the seam, then use a paint brush dipped in thinners to go over the top of it for a period finish with modern sealing and adhesive properties.

 

Both can be applied to bare metal then undercoated.
