wildy55 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Evening gents & ladies I'm just about to rebuild an L28 engine and am lucky enough to have two complete engines to choose from. The first is the F54/N42 and the other is N42/N42. Both are standard. Just want the best one for a road engine running extractors, maybe a cam and SUs. Also, is there any info on what year the engines are by referring to the engine number? IE a table that says a number falling within a certain range is a xxxx year and so on? Any help will assist with ordering parts and picking the right block. Also, any recommended places for gasket sets, rings and bearings? Cheers Martin Quote
d3c0y Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 If you aren't boring it, it doesn't really matter. Just pick the one in the best condition. gav240z 1 Quote
wildy55 Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 Thanks for that, will go with the F54 block. Quote
dat2kman Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 On teardown, get it hot tanked to clean it, and a sonic test for future reference.. There is a bit you can do while at the maching shop, do it all at same time, save multiple trips and "Doh" moments! gav240z 1 Quote
