It's always good when you read praise for the S30z, but like so many other 2 minute do-over articles. They don't seem to have really done much research.

The 2000GT began life as a collaboration between Nissan and Yamaha, with a design by Bernard Goertz, the man behind the iconic BMW 507.

Not sure who this Bernard fella is...they always mention "The German" even though he had literally nothing to do with the S30z.

Albrecht,

And yes, he did have some input to Nissans then design team in the mid to late 1960's, many dont like the fact, but, at the time, Nissan were wanting more export markets to enter, and felt that engaging a few consultants would help.

If it wasn't for Edward(?) Deeming, or Deming, in the early 1950's, there would have been very little manufacturing, in a country almost totally devestated after WW2

I have an uncle who also designs cars, for many manfacturers, including in past, Ford, GM, Pininfarina, Fiat, Mercedes, Skoda, and in last 10 years some Chinese manufacturers. He, like Goertz, is jst a paid consultant, and is given a job to do.

Here in Australia, think Project Blackwood, that became the XD Falcon, at MBercedes, the A series compacts, were styled by a him.

He also painted up Moffats race cars, and came up with the body work for the XC Falcon Cobras.

Best known as the originator f the Mad Max black supercharged coupe in Mad Max 1

The fact is (and some people don't like this...) is that Goertz wasn't responsible for any single line or curve on the S30-series Z's bodies. Zero. Nothing.

William Edwards Deming is the other guy you're thinking of. And if you think that Japan would still have been in the stone age post-war if it wasn't for Deming, then you are mistaken. Exaggerating the achievements of great men like Deming actually serves to diminish them. The story is - usually - bigger than one man.
