I Bought The 240Z Hs30 - 00595 Ex Kodie Car

Hi everyone

One of the forum guys on zClub.net suggested I contact your club and let them know I have just bought an ex Aussie car - now in the UK.

Its the orange 1971 car - which was in Sydney, then Melbourne and then Taz. An Aussie guy (Jody) bought my car and another 240z and shipped them to UK in June. The car was then sent to Four Ways garage (a specialise z garage) - where I viewed, inspected and then purchased.

Love the car. Very nice original condition. Needs tidying up and new paint - but fundamentally a really solid car - rust free. A credit to the previous owners who maintained the car.

Not sure about the seats. They are velour. Either been recovered, standard or replacement 260z? Other than the seats - its lovely.

For interest sake - the asking price for my one and the other one is around the €50k Aus. So there must be a bit of margin in shipping RHD cars to UK.

If anyone has any history or knowledge of my car I'd really like to hear from them. I'll send a note to the previous owners - but suspect they have moved on and not now active members.

If anyone's interested - I'll keep you posted on developments and how the car comes along. My plan is to keep it as a driver - not concours it or over restore it - just make it pretty!

Thanks.... Gary

Might give you a laugh.

Here is the for sale thread, it's been edited since then. Used to have more photos of it.

You could always try and get in contact with the previous owner and see if they can share more photos / history with you?

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase Gary. Just from seeing photos of the two cars, I think that you picked the nicer one.

Do you mean around $50,000 (Australian dollars) each?

Thanks for the replies so quickly. Must be early in the morning your time.

Non-rusty RHD cars from Australia are going for around £25k each. That's €50k Aussie each! With a budget of around £8k to bring to good show/driver (but not concours) standard - I would expect to be about to sell for around £35k - a small profit (but I have no intention of selling mine).

Value of classic cars have done mad here the last 24 months. Impact bumper 911s have doubled - as have E-types and Healeys.

I'm sorry to say you may have a bit of a gold rush on your hands - with us brits buying up more of your precious metal any time soon. At 2.1 to the £ - it will only accelerate the stampede!

If you get any Brit/Euro enthusiasts after something a bit more sports orientated, ie Circuit/Classic rally etc, i have a very well sorted Z that I can contaainerise and ship.

Selling at Aud $45k.

Has FIA approval papers for Historic Production Sports.

Facilitate a sale, and there's a few quid in it!

Jason, you should do a for sale post of your car with all the specs and some photos. It would sell much easier. Maybe put it up on my105.com for sale too. There are lots of guys that potentially would buy your car but are not on this forum.
