Chopped the skin off this today for donor metal the right shape. Shows where it all starts.

By the way if anyone wants frame parts speak now or forever hold your peace.

Quite different at the rear of the roof huh? Interesting water trap. Thanks for sharing (2+0 owner).

It is a lot squarer. Every 2+2 owner should have this area cut out and redesigned to drain condensation in my opinion. Wonder if it could be done without major surgery.

thanks for the heads up Mark, I've been looking at my roof and I've been so close t6o taking the skin off just so I can attack the hinge mounting points as their not to crash hot due to a previous owner fiberglassed them, think i'm just going to do it now, and see if there is a way of sorting some sort of drainage system in the problem areas....maybe even similar to the hose setup that's in the z32 300zx targa gutters, seemed to be fine when I stripped the green car for paint....something to think about anyway..

So I began to attack my upper rear hatch sill and I was thinking (as I defiantly don't have the time or resources to do anything like this) I could chuck stacks of bags of that Silica stuff that you get in food to get rid of moisture up there, or maybe a few bags of rice and leave it there for the next 5 years until I have more time and money to do things properly. Maybe then spray the hell out of it with a spray on rust converter and then some fish oil or WD-40.

So a few years later with far far more knowledge under my belt I decided to tackle this. I would imagine that just about every 2+2 with rust spots around the hatch hinge would look something like this, maybe not quite this bad but still!

I'm going to be looking for a donor cut to repair this. Failing that I will make something up which will no doubt take many many hours!
