Cozza Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 G'day all Just wondering if 1600 / 180B / 240K half shafts are compatible with 240z? Thanks in advance Mick Quote
dat2kman Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Yes. And the ones without the grease nipple in the uni joint cross are stronger, as the thread for the grease nipples are a stress riser. Be aware, some half shafts utilise a bolt in type inner, in place of flange/flange at each end. Quote
gilltech Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Probably. But you need to compare before buying anything. I'm pretty sure the 1600s & 180Bs & 200Bs used an R160 diff IIRC? The 240K & 240Z both used the R180. I don't know if the ratios were different, knowing Nissan... probably. Then the 260Z manual cars used an R200, the auto cars an R180. Some diffs have flange/flange, others have a flange at wheel end & a single centre-bolt-on sleeve at the diff end as dat2Kman says. Quote
Cozza Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 Thanks for the confirmation Fellas I have a bunch from some old projects but can't remember what they came from as I've had a couple 1600 a couple 180B's and wrecked a 240K. I will replace the unis in a spare set then do a diff and half shaft swap once it's all ready to go, the plan is not to have it off the road for long. I just wasn't sure if they were the same length but now you've answered that. Thanks again. Mick Quote
