I take a sample of a chassis rail i need bent up to the local metal fabrication shop. Usually only takes a couple of days and you can even extend them right to the rear chassis if you get them made long enough.

Yup, that's what I've now decided to do. I'll box it all the way to the back.

Nat in SA does a great chassis rail that works better than any thing you can have made up and he done all the hand work for you

The one's Bruce is talking about are the front sections to firewall.

 

Make a cardboard template and start from the rear, it helps a lot  to get it fitting correct. You can then trim to the front section to suit. I plug and seam weld them.
