Hi Guys,

I'm a bit on a the fence about selling these, but since there was discussion about it recently I thought I'd see if there is any interest.

These photo were taken last night.

They are currently sitting in my garage and whilst I don't really need to sell them, the extra space could be handy. I think they generally go for around $400, I would rather not sell them for less because if I decide to sell the FD I'd probably remove the Recaro's I have in there and sell the car with the stock seats. Which would mean finding a pair again in good condition. Hence I was holding onto these..

Photos before I removed them are here:

The only wear is on the drivers side bolster (right hand side) from getting in and out of the car, but it's only minor wear no rips / tears etc..as you would expect from a car around 17 years old now. They could use a vacuum as the garage dust has settled on them but other than that they are good condition (same as when I removed them) and would come with the rails etc..

Seats are located in Sydney, would rather pickup as oppose to posting them.

Just to clarify as I had a question about this, but these rails are from an FD RX-7 the seats have never been in an S30Z so you'll need to find a way to adapt them to suit a Z.

Uh.. I would so buy those if they where in the 1980's disco red my interior is..

Disco red was available in some US delivered cars, the JDM cars were the Type X (Luxury version w/cruise control sunroof etc..), Bathurst R models (limited numbers) and then later on in the Spirit R Type B (4 seat version no Recaro's).

Basically the red seats are quite rare to find, and when they do come up usually the bolsters show quite a bit of wear being that they are made of leather. You can buy re-trim kits but they are an additional cost obviously.

An interesting difference between the UK and AU market seat vs JDM ones is that the the UK/AUDM cars didn't have the cut out in the heat rest to run a harness. Not really sure why either.

Mainly because of my job I'm stuck in N.S.W at the minute. If I lived in Brisbane I'd have probably tried to buy a house already. But with the current property bubble in Sydney and Melbourne I'm not willing to dive in. ;)

I've already explained to SWMBO why the Recaro's were better, hasn't been convinced yet. I actually kept them because I was going to put them in my Z but now I've changed my mind and want to go with something more 'period' looking like Mossy did.

I really rate these seats gents, great seats for factory seats. You should keep them gav, there pretty period looking design especially if you recovered them. My first set was a good 500, the second set I got for 50 each.

I didn't recover them, but they are the correct trim for my year 1995 FD RX-7 (They are nicknamed the 'carbon look or effect' seats). So that's another reason I'm reluctant to offload them. Finding a set of series 6 JDM seats in that pattern would be hard - although not impossible.

The later series 8 (last of the FDs) also had a nice trim look.

Here is the AU / UK market version

These are good for 2+2's because you can tilt them forward for rear seat access.

To be honest the only reason I'm listing them is because I don't want them to get soiled sitting in my garage, in which case I'll probably just have to find some garbage bags to wrap them up in and stop them getting dusty / dirty.

Why not put them in the big garbage bags then store them in the roof ?

Just don't forget them when you move  :o

Sorry gav, you miss understood. I meant if you recovered them then you could make them look very period correct.

I vote keep them. Turn them into office chairs until you're ready to use them.

Bump - still don't want to sell, but will if someone is interested in them. Just sitting in the garage taking up space and have a couple of bills at the minute.

Interested in a straight swap for the floors Gav. And i'll send you some money for packaging and courier?
