Cusco450 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Hi fellow Datsun folk, Im selling the R200 out of my race car, it is a 4.37:1. It has done 4 race meets this year and has also had the clutch pack tightend up as done by SWR. The diff has always had an oil cooler and external pump fitted and is in excellent condition, the only reason i am looking to change it is that my current gearing is slightly to short (3-400rpm) for my home track and to change the gearbox is not an option. Make me an offer. (with intelligence!) Cheers Brad Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 and to change the gearbox is not an option. Change the gearset in the diff instead? Quote
Cusco450 Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 He's gonna! With a 4.1 r200 ! I would if i could find a 4.1 gear set, they seem a little tricky to come across..... Got one spare!?!? Quote
dat2kman Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I would if i could find a 4.1 gear set, they seem a little tricky to come across..... Got one spare!?!? Did have, but some bloke with an old quick Datsun is in dscussion with me?!?!?! They don't come up very often, in R200 Sort of like 4.375's in the R180, a Sports Option catalogue part, the rally lads love those! Quote
Magnet Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 S13 silvia sr20 manual has R200 4.1 diff gearing Not too difficult to find these Quote
dat2kman Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 S13 silvia sr20 manual has R200 4.1 diff gearing Not too difficult to find these Ummm, let me see, That's a SHORT pinion diff, will not fit into a P510 sedan rear x-member. Hard enough bolting those Sylvia short diffs into a Z. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Can you just take the gearing from it? No I believe you need both the crown wheel and a matching pinion. The pinion from the short nose wont fit in a long-nose R200 case. Quote
Roberto Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Yes, but without a price people just won't take action. It's just the way it is! Quote
tir33d Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Im wondering if it is too short for my needs. and of course the price. Quote
dat2kman Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I dare anyone to get a price, and post it up here, from SWR ( Stew Wilkins Racin) for one of these, WITH the extra plates, and setup! Or LCR! Sure you can get a stock one out of a mid '80's Skyline, but they do not have the full number of clutch LSD plates, but spacers instead. They're ok,,,,, until you get a bit serious! Quote
Cusco450 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Guys, You know what their worth, i'm looking at the north side of $1600, this only just covers the rebuild, without finding an LSD diff to start with!!! One thing i must mention is that i need to keep my diff hat, thsi has the cooling points and gussets in it for the diff cooler set up. Its no stress if i dont sell it as it is still in the car and i will happily use it for the rest of the season, the 4.1 is more of a "want" than a need, the amount i paid for this diff, then the clutch mods etc etc im loosing money, but hey, welcome to car racing hey! Cheers Brad, Quote
