Kirby Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Hey Guys, I am trying to source a replacement for these urgently. I can't find them and need to reattach my hatch. Can anyone tell me the thread type and length and overall OD of the countersunk head? Thanks Quote
PeterAllen Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 This may sound complicated but here goes. When I fitted the Holden diff I had to use countersunk bolts to ensure clearance of the rubber drive coupling. I found that no bolt supplier had them in fine pitch. I bought longer bolts with a plain shank and by holding the head in a lathe chuck I could cut a fine thread on the previous plain shank. I then cut them to length. Any small machine shop should do it for a couple of bob. Quote
YosemiteZed Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Hi Kirby I replaced mine with a stainless steel hex head socket c/sunk 316ss 8mm x 20mm thread pitch 125 I get all my stainless through Blackwoods as I can buy 100 for the price of 10 than from other suppliers. lookup Blackwoods on line + product code ie ' Blackwoods 0446 4552 ' and you will see what you want. and there will be a store somewhere near you. Kirby Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Seems urgent is a 2 week thingy on AusZcaR! I did end up sorting it out for my order in time. Just forgot to reply here. In the end I went for zinc plated M8 Standard Pitch CSK hex socket screws (over the original phillips head) Grade 8.8 15mm overall. The originals have a countersunk/taper serated tooth washer, but I just went for a dab of loctite. They cost me 80c each with my main fastener order. Quote
