Flemdiggitty Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Hey, I am very new to the Car scene. My first project was a restoration of a 1997 Nissan 180sx Type S, with my father. Then later, with part help, an 89 S13 Silvia. I am after a 240z/260z to be our last quality project together before one of us is too old for the car. Any help in the right direction would be very appreciated. I have been offered a few shells with fiberglass panels. However, looking to try and restore a vehicle. As both Dad and I are not too much into the modifying scene. 0421453483 Message anytime, though I can only take personal calls after 5.30. Budget of a few thousand. However, if the right car comes along. I will find the money for it. Sell a car or something. Thanks in advance, and I appreciate any help that is given. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 18, 2014 Administrators Posted February 18, 2014 I'm thinking this would be an ideal project car. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2630.msg147076.html#msg147076 Not sure what it looks like now, but you won't find a 260z 2 seater much cheaper than that these days. Unless you find a real rusty bones car. Are you looking for a 2 seater or 2+2 that's usually pretty important to people? Quote
Flemdiggitty Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 It IS very difficult finding a quality 260z. I should've also mentioned that I am in the Lower Blue Mountains area in NSW. So trying to find something local, or at least something that is >400kms away. I am new to the 240/260 (S30) scene. What are the main differences? It doesn't bother me though. Quote
dat2kman Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Call into Stewart Wilkins Motorsport, ask for Tim, they have/had a couple of "fixer uppers" in there. 15 Wingate rd Mulgrave Quote

There are just not enough cars left to be picky about finding a local car. I personally imported my 240z project from S.A to NSW. If you can get someone to look at a car for you in another state then you can always get it transported. Yes it will cost, but NSW seems to have less Zeds than say Victoria or South Australia for some reason. 2. The differences between the 260z / 240z and 2+2 etc.. has been covered many times. I would suggest you do an image search on Google to see the difference between 2 and 4 seaters. 4 seaters are cheaper because people tend to prefer the 2 seater roofline but if you don't mind this difference then it will be easier to find a good car at a reasonable price. A budget of a 'few' thousand is only going to get you a basket case to be honest. Quote
