JP240z Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 sure as hell look like it olly. mine have slightly different lids to the oil. Quote
benny Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 from the little bit of info iv been able to scrape up it appears they they are "british" su carbs. Are these the carbs that give you the extra performance that everyone talks about?? Quote
Toecutter Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Lookng at the caps I would also say British SU's. I'm not sure how much better the british ones are than the old flat tops but most people install the Japanese 240 carbs look the same with a couple of variations of 3 or 4 screw type, both work same from what I've heard. If you've done some work on the motor and need more fuel I think people change the needles in these carbs (SM needles from memory, as to who sells these needles etc I have no idea). Good Luck, Sulio Quote
zedevan Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 the swap is made to 240z carbs over 260z ones for reliability and the 260z ones had to adhere to stricter emissions laws i believe so they might perform a bit better i know my car had 240z carbs put on it as the 260z ones kept playing up. Damn emission laws! They bugger everything up hey? Is there any easy way for a n00b to carbs (like myself) to tell the difference between 240Z and 260Z carbs? Quote
pauly_adams Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 yeh the 260z carbs have dead flat tops on them not bell shaped like 240z carbs as for performance my flat tops work great but very touchy (if there not in good condition they stuff up ) but being a 2 inch they work and sound great well thats my 2c for the day cheers pauly Quote
