Cheeky1984 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Hey Guys, I recently bought my first Zed (wahooo!!!) but when it arrived it was missing a carby & the special bolts that attach the filter to the carbies... (oh nooo!!!) :-\ I've been to the Zshop in Glen Iris but he pointed me in the direction of America. Before i do that i was hoping to see if someone had a pair i could grab?/Pay for? locally? (in VIC) Really would love to see this thing started sooner rather than later i.e waiting for parts in America PS. I've attached some pics as i know there are a few different variations Appreciate you help. Cheeks Quote
G Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I can't help you with the carbs, but by the look of the photo at the bottom you've taken them off. Correct? Is your plan to completely rebuild whatever you source? You're actually not missing a complete carb by the looks of things. It appears you're missing: Piston Bell housing Needle Grub screw to hold the needle in Screws to hold the bell housing down Spring Bolts to hold the filter on Would this be an accurate list? You might find someone else with a single carb if you're lucky, rather than buying a complete set. If you are intending to rebuilt them, then you really should order the DVD's from these guys, which will come from the USA anyway.. http://www.ztherapy.com Good luck with your hunt! Quote
Cheeky1984 Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Hey, Thanks for the reply. The first 2 photos are from my car. The 3rd photo is from the Zshop showing me what carb i need, so no i didn't take the carb that is missing off. The car came like that. Going off the first two photos, the list you provided, is that still an accurate list of what is missing? Im not looking to re-build them. Just want to get the car to start so i can start driving it from A to B to get the project started/restored. A single carb, that is second hand would be fine. If that would work Quote
G Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Well, judging by my guess and a blurry photo, that looks to be what's missing. Getting those individual bits might be trickier than a whole set, but it should certainly be cheaper! Who knows what the guys have got laying around, you might get lucky. My understanding is that there are differences between 240z carbs, so jump on z therapy and identify yours. Don't forget, if you are buying a complete carb off the net, carbs are handed. You want the LHS one. If I were you, I'd sit down with a copy of the carbs section of the workshop manual here: http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html and try to identify exactly what you're missing. It doesn't sound like you know a whole load about these carbs. I'd also jump on youtube and watch some videos on how su carbs work (which the Hitachis were based on). Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Hey Guys, I recently bought my first Zed (wahooo!!!) but when it arrived it was missing a carby & the special bolts that attach the filter to the carbies... (oh nooo!!!) :-\ You've bought a Zed without a carburetor? WTF? Have you asked the previous owner where it is? Quote
Cheeky1984 Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Yea, your right. For the last 10 years i've only owned EFI cars. First carbie car i've had. Trying to get my head around it at the moment as you can tell. Your a champ man, thanks. Will take on your suggestions and go from there. Quote
Cheeky1984 Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 hahaha Im in vic, the car was in queensland. The pic she sent me had the carb in the pic. The car i got had a missing carb... Well when i say missing the case of the carb was in the car rear compartment (which i found out after calling her). The piston, spring and bolts were missing :-\ :-\ :-\ Quote
zeds4ever Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Hi Cheeky, I've responded to your need in another thread before I came across this. Mate I have a pr of of matching housings & pistons complete with matching needles. They have good vacuum responses which indicate minimal wear. All you need to finish off is the three housing screws that secure missing housing unit.Don't want a lot for them so PM me if your interested. Regards: Alan. Quote
zeds4ever Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 G'day Cheeky, sent PM to you. Regards: Alan. Quote
