I have a 260z that started out as an auto and has been converted to a manual. The brakes are savage and I wondered if the auto has a different booster from the manual. Can anyone confirm this?

Howdy ( i assume your name is graham) and welcome to Auszcar. Can i ask what you mean by savage? There is no difference between the auto or manual booster. However you may like to post up a photo (once you figure out how to resize them by using clever tools like powertoy) so we can have a look at your equipment (mecanical) and offer you an opinion.

Cant say if the booster is different between the two but I would doubt it.

You say the brakes are "savage" I'm assuming they have little feel and apply very hard straight away? If so, given its had an auto to manual conversion I would suggest the rubber reaction disc has fallen out of the booster, it can happen very easily when doing things like removing pedal boxes.

Pull the booster out and give it a shake, if it has fallen out you will be able to hear it rolling around inside the booster.

As the guys above said i also don't think there is a difference between auto and manual boosters. But i do know there are 2 sizes of boosters in the 260z early and late and an even smaller sized booster on early 240z's.
