JPav_260z Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Hi, just seeing where to find an exhaust header flange plate for an L28 so I can have a custom turbo manifold built for my L28, preferrably 12mm thick but no thinner than 10mm, cheers, John Quote
dat2kman Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Start emailing the header manufacturers, they have the laser cut patterns on CNC laser or water cutters. Most use a thinner plate, the 12mm will be a special for them. If they cant do 12 mm, Consider what they can supply, and weld on upper and lower gusseted support brackets, where each pipe comes out the plate. Quote
pauly_adams Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 measure the thickness of a intake manifold flange and make it the same thickness as that as the exhaust and intake are held on by the same bolts Quote
dat2kman Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 A thicker ex mani plate and a std thickness inlet can be compensated for by welding bits of half washer to the full washers that go under the studs/bolts. It is a good idea to fit helicoils to the threads that you will ge using bolts for. Slightly longer studs along bottom is also a good idea. The thicker the ex mani flange plate the less it will have tendency to bend/warp, and crack due to heat/cool etc. Quote
Riceburner Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Is this suitable? http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/88441-cad-file-for-exhaust-flangeheader-plate/?hl=%2Bheader+%2Bflange+%2Bplate I can't unzip the cad file Quote

jamo240 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Mate you are in luck....I have one in the shed from years ago when I used to build manifolds at Mahnkens Autotune in Melbourne. Let me know if your Tassie supplier doesn't work out and I will get it over to you. Cheers Jamo Quote
