Yeh looks pretty good, sweet it has a 350, but its a freekin Datsun 240Z.  Why do the yanks have to turn everything into a yank mobile, as if its not meant to look like a Corvette.  It even has a 350 Chev in it and Corvette tail lights!!

But I can appreciate the time and effort gone in to it.

I'm usually on the conservative side but don't mind a torquey V8, also the advantages of being shorter, behind the front axle. But IMO , a Z is a Z and not supposed to look like a corvette/e-type/shelby cobra/ferrari or that horrendous ghost-train thingy

wow, thats 6 minutes of boring.  The videos about 5 minutes too long. I can appreciate the work thats gone into the car though.

 

Is that a OHC V8 or a pushrod?

Ha Ha you guys crack me up.  It always surprises me how many varied comments we can get. From the purist Zed man to the outlandish. But there is no denying that thing would go. You have to remember that to build I light weight car with a V8 in it, the Zed shell was perfect. To do it in another car would not have the same appeal or style. And to buy a similar sized V8 car new would cost well over 250K and still not be as fast. Each to there own but I am always open to the odd Zed on the cutting edge. There are plenty of stockies around but not many in the world to this level. Cheers

It looks like a lot of hard work and a really well thought out project, I'm sure once it's painted it will look really really mean and it's great to see another widebody Z I think they look fantastic. To me though it's a bit of a shame he picked a 240z over a later Z like a 260z or 280z. Being in the US though early 240z's are much easier to find than the rest of the world so he was probably not thinking along those lines at all. In Australia though the early 240z's are getting so scarce that modifying one to this extend would almost seem a shame.

 

I've never been that keen on different tail lights on a 240z myself, but that's only a minor thing. It's very extreme though so you'll always upset a few of the more purist.

I love the Z's in stock format as they were 'back in the day'  . However, I think these sort of projects (and what some of you guys have done) are really great in that they show what the Z might have been if it were released today, or, they update the Z to the present performance specs which would be equivalent to what it was in the 70's.

 

Although, if it were to be released today it would most likely be in a straight 6 format rather than a V8 wouldn't it?  Minor technicality

I guess that's my point, you aren't going to get a car that weighs 1,350 kg with over 500 bhp. If you are a V8 man in need of some awesome power and don't have $400,000- then the Zed isn't a bad option. Mind you to do it properly you will still need to spend some serious dollars but still be well in front.
