Cozza Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hi Guys I am going to install an electric fuel pump and was hoping you guys could show me some photos of where and how you mount yours. I know some zeds came standard with an electric pump but don't know how it was mounted, I can see there are some threaded holes in the cross member above the moustache bar but I think that might be a bit too high for a fuel pump. BTW, I have a Mallory pump that is supposedly not very good at sucking. Any ideas would be great, photos would be even better. Thanks in advance Mick Quote
Scoota G Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 There's a bracket that hangs off those bolt holes. It's L Shaped and reinforced to stop it bending. It bolts in with 4 bolts. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/parts-swapping-s30/32919-elec-fuel-pump-bracket.html#post277985 Quote
Cozza Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 Thanks Scoota, Anyone have a fuel pump mounting bracket they could part with? I'm in Sydney but happy to pay postage. Mick Quote
dat2kman Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Run an inlne pladtic filter between tank and pump, and place pump at rear of car. Fuel is much easier to push, than to suck, and the length of the run to the front, controlled by the pressure regulator will be more even. Quote
Riceburner Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I didn't have the oem bracket so I used a coil bracket in the oem chassis holes. Worked fine for many years, might be an easier solution. Quote
Cozza Posted July 20, 2013 Author Posted July 20, 2013 Interesting idea Gareth, I do want to keep it low so it doesn't have to suck too hard but I'll look at that. Cheers Quote
Six_Shooter Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I put my Walbro 255 in approximately the OEM location for a '73 with electric pump. Here are some pictures to take you on a journey: I originally used the OEM bracket for fitting, and had planned to use it... I decided I wanted to have a little more protection from debris for the mount and fuel lines so I made a different plate: With fuel filter: A little wider shot: I've been running this set up for 5 years without issue. That being said, when I redo my fuel system I am planning to install an in tank fuel pump, to eliminate the need to have the fuel pump suck the fuel so far. I still run the same set-up after swapping to an R200, but had to use spacers to move the plate more rearward to clear the R200 mustache bar. Quote
