G'day everyone,

I am interested in what seat came in which model zed? I have a Datsun 240z '71 model and very keen to re-due the seats soon. The problem is that I think I have got 260 seats due to leavers to recline the seat back. From my knowledge I can see that early models had a rotating dial thing to recline the seat backs  ???  If anyone can help clarify what type of seat is correct would be very helpful.

Thanks

Not sure on the early models but the later 240's had a lever, see the post in this section regarding the picture of the back rest adjuster. That is from a 73 240Z

Hi Steve early 240z seats did have a dial shape object on the side and were not very reclinable. I believe they had minor lumbar adjustment but it's been so long since I've seen one I forget.

Early 240z seats also had horizontal striping in the vinyl, while later 260z had vertical stripes.

I also believe the earlier seats graining was slightly different if you were to be 100% picky.

My 11/72 has the lever adjustment and the 11/70 has the rotating dial and silver thingos (technical term) in the cushions.

Having both types I personally find the early seats painful, as it limits your ability to put stuff in the back & access the jack bins.  Only the  purests would notice the difference but, if you want original you need some dial seats.

Can take a photo tonight if it helps.

My first car way back in 1995 (RIP, 11/70, No 300ish), had the seat dials, but it also didn't have rear bins, so access was not really a problem.
