240z rear struts

Hi everyone,

 

I'm not liking my chances but I'm after a pair of 240z rear struts (51mm). It can be bare, no springs, top hats, shocks, etc.

 

I'm located in Melbourne, but I'm happy to pay for postage.

Sorry I don't have rear but I do have a brand new pair of frount shock never used.

If you need them they are KYB that didn't use as went down the kone path. they are still in there boxs.

Thanks mate, but I've got a set if Konis ready to go in.

 

Just to clarify, I am after the strut housing, the tubes that hold the shocks (I've noticed that people refer to shocks as struts also).

Hi Adam,

 

We just changed the rear strut tubes in my 240z with off the shelf Commodore front tubes. You have to machine down the tube a tiny bit or machine out the holes they sit in (Which is what we did) and cut them to length.

I got a bare passenger side rear you can have for $50. But the spidle pin will need to be pressed out or machined out as its stuck. Easy enough to do i just didnt have access to a press.

 

It literally took me a year to find one. Rare as hens teeth. Lindsay (z factory) had the drivers side but wanted like $100 bare or $200 complete. Maybe give him a call.

 

 

Just to clarify generally 'struts' are what our cars have and 'shocks' are the enclosed single unit items found on more modern cars.

 

Struts look just like the gas struts on a car bonnet and are housed in a strut tube.  While shocks usually have the spring perch welded on aswell as a bottom mount.

Interesting stuff, Hodgo. That's something I may have to look into. What commodore series did you get them from?

 

 

'Struts' for the 240z, I am referring to the below. They house the shock absorbers. I am after a pair of these to suit the 240z, 51mm.

 

 

 

And below is what I am referring to as a 'shock' because it is a shock absorber. Not what I'm after because I've already got a set of Konis.

Yep so as i said i got a passenger side for $50 and Lindsay should have the drivers side $100ish as i bought mine off him.

 

Can i ask what happened to your strut housings?

I'll have to get in contact with him. Nothing worse than ending up with only one side.

 

Nothing's happened to my struts.. yet!

 

I will need them for a RWC.
