smugley Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Can anyone tell me what the length of the Frt lower control arm should be ? I am currently rebushing my 71 240 race car and found that it has two different length control arms on the frt . LHS is 296.5 RHS is 286.5 ( measured center of ball joint hole to center of inner bush hole ) They are not modified and look factory made to me . Could one be of a 510 (1600) ? Thanks in advance for any help . Cheers Doug Quote
dat2kman Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Front end of car is bent. What was its alignment settings? A suspension shop may have compensated to btain close wheel alignment by cutting and joining, it can be done without being obvious. Quote
smugley Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Both arms on close inspection have not been modified . No idea on alignment settings as inner bushings were basically falling apart . Car has been sitting for years ( last log book run was Rob Roy 2005 , past owner ) I would just like to know what the correct length should be ? I think i just opened a can of worms ! Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 3, 2013 Moderators Posted April 3, 2013 Might have an arm from another similar Datsun model? I have a front end off a 260Z I can measure to compare both arms... Quote
PeterAllen Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 On my March '72 car they are close to the 286.5mm measurement. Quote
smugley Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 My car has had a hard life ( Before me ) so maybe it has at some stage picked up an arm off off a latter or earlier model ? It would be nice to know if all S30's came with the same length arms or if they got longer or shorter in between models ? Ie 240 and 260 frt hubs are different offsets and so are the arms diffrent length's ? Thanks for your replies Doug Quote
