wildy55 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Morning datto peeps Bought an L28 that after a compression check has seen me strip it down. Crank and bores are good so going to be putting in big end shells, rings (after honing) and new gaskets throughout. I'll also be stripping and referbbing the head. Just going to be using the engine in a street car. Any type or make of ring I should hunt out or will standard aftermarket stuff be the go? Anyone got currentish prices on those bits? Engine is 54/42 from a 1983 ZX. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Quote
Riceburner Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I used Hastings rings as recommended by Stuart Wilkins, he had them on the shelf when I got them a few years ago. Quote
Scoota G Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Yea i used Hastings Chrome rings was a year or so ago and cost around the $120 mark from memory. Quote
nizm0zed Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Put an ARP head stud kit in there while you have it apart. It'll probably set you back $2-300 for the studs, but it'll make it a lot nicer to assemble, longer lasting, and a lot stronger. Quote
Scoota G Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 If you are willing to wait a week you can get a stud kit from the states for less. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ARP-202-4206-Head-Stud-Kit-Nissan-Datsun-L24-L26-L28-240Z-260Z-280Z-S30-Fairlady-/200895505822?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec64e259e Could be cheaper sets if you do a search on L Series.
