Bridgestone RE11S semi slicks

Hey guys, is anyone running these on their zed? Just wondering how they compare and what your thoughts are.

 

Looking at these or Yoki AO50 semis, I'm sure the Yokies will be stickier but I don't think they'll last long.

 

Any feedback appreciated

Well, the majority of Group N toutprers, and Group S sports, are prefferring the Yoko A050, softer compound than older A048's, but that may be due to tyre sizing.

They all dropped the Bridgy re55's like hot spuds.

The re11's are supposed to be softer than 55's, the few who have run back to back prefer the Yoko a050's, but it gets to a "money no issue" thing.

Porsches are using different brand combo front to rear, due to propensity for ill handling characteristic of crappy krautmobiles.

 

I also likethe Kumho 700 and 710's, again softer compound.

Then there are certaian Falken or Hankook that are the shizz.

I'm after a bit of a trade off., unfortunately money is an object  I do want good grip but I don't want the tyres to be worn out after 5 race days. I've heard that yokies get chewed up really quick.

 

Previously had R888's that were great in the wet but slow in the dry, switched to RE55S and got great grip with plenty of durability.

 

Jason, do you know what the yokies are like in terms of durability? Also the RE11S?

 

I hope they are better than RE55S!

RE55S tend to loose grip when they get too hot, or from going too fast!

I've heard good things about the Kumho's

A lot of my friends use Hankook RS3 road legal semis or Hankook Z214 "DOT approved" semis (a lot like Hoosier R6). If you are keen enough to buy online through somewhere like tirerack.com they can be quite cheap (approx $900 a set for Z214 in medium compound) for what they are!

Suggest you go with the Hankook Z214 as it is a very consistent tyre through its life & available in both soft or medium compounds.

 

Alan Stean in Brisbane is Hankook Motorsport agent (Z Car Racing PH 07 3808 2755) and has good stock available now in the country.

 

We all tend to use the size he has in stock 225/45/15 (ideal for 8 inch rim)

 

Most zeds up here are running on them & very happy .

Those Hankook Z214's don't look street legal.

How do they handle in the wet?

Yeah DOT approved is no good, they have to be street legal as I drive to track days. I think my current compound is medium/hard, so mediums or softs might give me a poorer wear rate.

 

Those hankooks look like a full slick  hehehe. I bet I would be happy with those!

 

Traction tyres has AO48's for $299ea but they at least 12months old already. Their AO50's are $420ea. Bridgestone RE11S are $350ea. $70 a tyre difference adds up quickly, I have bridgestone ATM and have been really happy with them so I'm leaning in that direction.

Can't get much in 14"      And the few that you can are either narrow or medium to hard compound.

 

Although I'm sure all you guys run much bigger wheels than 14".

I ended up getting RE11S, I would've liked the Yokohama AO50's but I couldn't justify the extra expense. I figured better the devil you know
