zzzzed
I have a few questions regarding the l28 n42 block v f54. I have one of each in my collection. First off I will tell you what i have planed, I have a p90 head and turbo manifold so i will be adding boost. I will be aiming for a streetable power figure between 200 and 300rwhp. heres the questions 1. which block would be better suited for my application. 2. will i need forged pistons for these power figures 3. how much power can a stock bottom end handle with boost Thanx Mick.... NZeder
For Turbo setup I would got the F54 as this is what Nissan used for the L28ET. However don't go for a large bore ie nothing larger than 88mm ie 2mm over as you want more meat for boosted setups. If however you are going stroker and large bore I would say stick with the N42 as these are better suited for this application IMHO. That is my 2 cents. C.A.R.
Basically what Mike said. The N42 block is the one to use for the stroker as it can be overbored more successfully due to the thicker casting & full webbing between the cylinder jackets. The F54 is only simeised between 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. This is better for turbo applications as it provides better cooling of the cylinder bores. zzzzed
I dont think i will need to boar or stroke for the power figures i am aming for so i will go the f54 and keep the n42 for back up. I found this thred on hybridz of the in's and outs of l28et it almost makes it sound easy. Its worth a read for all the boost nuts http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=84860
