chartoo Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I was thinking the other day and mucking around with a few ideas to do with my inspection flaps. I always wanted some vented ones that i saw at showcase bodyparts on the web but the guy didnt return my emails. So i had an old buggered windscreen vent and cut them out and put them on top of my inspection flaps. Welded in i think they might look good and they would let air out of the engine bay also. I want to remove the smaller edge vents of this panel also to flow better with the lines of the bonnet. What do you think? Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 does the engine bay really get that hot? Is it really worth having water getting all over your battery and electrics? To be honest.. looks too unneeded bling to me. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted November 14, 2008 Moderators Posted November 14, 2008 I can tell you through experience, getting hot air out from under the bonnet does help. Those vents should make a difference. With my EFI setup, I had a intake air temp sensor in the engine bay and with a non fluted bonnet, on a 26 degree day, under bonnet temps would be around 40-50C. The moment I attached a fluted bonnet, temps would be around 4-5 degrees above ambient. Of course if I was stationary it would climb slowly but we don't race or drive parked in our driveway... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 3, 2012 Administrators Posted February 3, 2012 An old topic but I was looking at this again and came across a similar article: http://zclub.net/forum/general-discussion/8817-vented-240z-260z-inspection-flaps.html I like the idea of putting them in the flaps since they can easily be reversed if needed. Six_Shooter Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Hmmm... I just happen to have some extra inspection covers AND cowl panels.... Quote
620Z Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I have seen some from the States that looked pretty good. But not a fan of the mock up you have there. Not sure vents on the bonnet and on the flaps might look a bit much. But that comes down to personal taste. Quote
