  1. Sorry guys I'm not very tech Savvy so doing my best to add pics of the parts I have and some of the work done so far.
  2. Hello, and thank you. I do love the look of flared guards with boot and front spoilers but I feel its just to nice to cut up. Plus, I'm not sure how black flares would look with the 303 green and Ivory trim. What do you guys say? To cut or not to cut.
  3. This is a US version but the correct 303 Turquoise green I would like to go back to for reference. Apparently this was a rare colour especially with the Ivory trim .
  4. Hello everyone it has been suggested to me to do a thread on my 260z build so here goes. This is my first time restoring a car so any and all advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. A quick background on how It started. Basically I found a 1974 260z coupe on E bay about 8 months ago and fell in love with it as soon as I saw the add. It was about 11.30pm when I saw the buy it now add, it was only listed there for about 3 hrs and it had about 120 watchers, I had a feeling it would be gone by the morning so I hit but it now and did the deal She is all original apart from paint, stereo and speakers. The seats were torn and it had the usual dash cracks but apart from that she was all good and all there. I knew there were 2 small rust issues at the rear of the floor pans (rails) under both seats but they were only minor, everything else looked very straight and solid from my inexperienced perspective although I did notice there was a repair at the hatch corners but it looked like a good job and surely wasn't a deal breaker for me. She was purchased in Deer Park Victoria from a young guy, it was his dads who had passed away some 20 years ago. The young man had intentions of restoring it one day but never got around to it and jut left it dry stored for 20+ years in his mums garage until I came along. It has the matching numbers L26 in it and the original colour is 303 turquoise green with Ivory trim. I have removed the l26 ( first time ever removing an engine from a car) and purchased an L28 to go in it. Since then, I have bought a set of triple 45mm webers, a new reproduction steering wheel, Replacement seat covers and a set of front and rear try bar strut braces from Techno Tuning. The rust patches in the floors have been repaired (not by me) and now she's in the good hands of Les Collins who will be helping me achieve my goals for her. The 5 speed g box has been restored with 4th gear being replaced due to some pitting, wear and minor rust issues.from being stored for so long. My dream was to have a nice 3.2 ltr stroker but not sure if that will happen now because of budget restrictions and the lack of some parts like the LD28 crank needed for that. Anyway, I will leave it at that for now and will try to add some pictures in crono order as things have happened from when I first lied eyes on her. The first pic's are from the Ebay add and the 2nd are after she was moved to his new location, the last pics were after her first wash. Thanks everyone, I hope you enjoy my build.
  5. Hey Lurch, is this what you were looking for. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-Windshield-Washer-Nozzles-Pair-Left-Right-260z-280z-240-260-280-z/292661294788?hash=item4423f8f6c4:g:GjwAAOSwMtZbU1kj&vxp=mtr
  6. Thanks for the advice Lurch. The only reason I asked about a 280zx box was because I was told the gearing would suit the auto diff. As for the one stop shop, I think contacting Les might be the best solution. Cheers!
  7. Hi Guys, I want to convert a 240z Auto to a 5 speed and need everything required to do so. If anyone has a clutch and brake pedal assembly and or a 5 speed box (preferably a 71A 280zx box I think) that is willing to part with them, please let me know. Thanks Jeff
  8. It's always the case, when you want to but they are always expensive but when you want to sell, everyone wants cheap. If I was closer I would offer you 800 for them even though I dont need them but sadly with postage to Vic it ends up costing more than I am willing to spend.
  9. I haven't installed mine yet or finished my build but I am so glad I took your advice and bought 45's.
  10. Melbourne old school cruisers was the easiest for me. No mandatory meetings and hassles at all to be honest.
  11. Thanks Jeff Nice to see yo spell your name the right way. I have a couple of eds but I'm looking for a hattrick. and this yellow one looks great. Cheers! Jeff

  15. Yes I am Gav but wasn't sure of quality and fitment and yes mate, no flutes.
  16. I'm interested on a good 240z bonnet. Thanks. Jeff

  18. Thanks Dave, I appreciate the great advice and agree with you. I can get a brand new set of 45 Webers with manifold ready to fit for about $2200 so was thinking the same thing. I will be taking it to Les so I think I will just leave it all up to him and see what the best bang for buck is.
  19. Are these the 44 Mikunis you guys are talking about and if so can someone tell me what the difference is between them and the 45 webbers please. Are the Mikunis really worth that much more than the Webers? Here's the link https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-L24-L28-Triple-Mikuni44-type-4-full-conversion-set/282936165073?hash=item41e04f42d1:g:Vg0AAOSwSUJa2Hho&vxp=mtr
  20. Thanks Lurch, I spoke with Les a few weeks ago asking him if I could bring my Z in for some work. He told me to Bring it in towards the end of the month and I will do that soon. Only problem is that my budget is about 10 to 12k. The cars a barn find that is very straight with only to small rust issues that I could find. It hasn't been started in over 20 years so will need all the obvious things gone over such as new hoses, brakes, fuel system, suspension. I would love some webbers or equivalent depending on what Les recommends and for the gear box and drive line to be sorted but not sure how far my budget will get me. I am a novice on car restos so much of the work will need to be done by others. I have the vision but not all the skills sadly.
  21. Thanks for the great info.
