Hi All, My mostly trouble free 5 speed Z has started leaving g.box on the driveway and I traced it to the last switch ( looking from the front) There's a similar post on this site, but no answers Now, I found some diagrams on the net (FS5W71B) and this is the order shown reverse, top gear, o.d and neutral The thing is that I only have 3 switches. The first two are before the adapter plate, so I either need a o.d or neutral. Since I only need the reverse switch, the others dont have to work as long as they dont leak I can see this zcar depot lists , Transmission Neutral Switch 4-Spd OEM 240Z 260Z | Z Car Depot Inc but it doesnt seem to have an o-ring or a washer like the reverse switch Reverse Back Up Light Switch 240Z 260Z 280Z | Z Car Depot Inc So ... Does anyone know what the 3 rd switch is Is the neutral switch the same as o.d switch Nissan part #? Will another part fit? there are plenty of generic Nissan g.box switches on ebay

Can anyone rcommend a pro rebuilder in Melb I'm getting a bit of slop in the diff No. its not the u-joints, nor the bushes. Happens when I rotate the wheel backwards and forwards with the car on a jack and is defintely inside the diff/ No whine or other problems Prefer a pro shop with all the tools and the gear Will probably change all the bearings and seals while there

All those who helped me with my build over the years and have put up with my annoying question, here are shots of my completed mission https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjApTdL It shows a JDM style install with no visible signs on the interior , other than a grey control under the steering wheel. Its shown in a disassembled state , but you get the idea Uses a standard Sandem compressor on a semi-custom bracket, various off the shelf ( but all brand new) parts and custom made evaporator box. The evap was the hardest item to source as not even the smallest unit from a current car would fit , not even the smallest Suzukis or Toyotas The local A/C shop crimped the hoses for me and gassed it all up - money well spent I also upgraded the stock fan to the Honda one, as suggested on this forum In hindsight, I can see why the JDM version did not make it beyond Japan - the in-dash space is simply too small to fit a full size evaporator, which leads me to believe why the 260 HVAC was completely redesigned, it has a much bigger, sturdier evap box It works great in general, but I want to add either the full 240 stock radiator shroud (someone must have one , it was supposed to be standard on autos)

Everytime I close the door, the winder handle flies off I've tried fixing it 3 times - twice with generic clips ( the ones either side of the handle) and once with a genuine nissan part ( yep got from the local nissan man for $5) the one on the left is to p...weak and the one on the right is the wrong shape the nissan one seems too wide in the centre to grip the groove on the winder shaft the handles are reproduction, made in taiwan and look identical to the originals ( i dont have any) on the net any idea?

prefer with no US style plugs ( I think it was for some US only pollution equip ) and studs in good nick thank you

I have a small leak somewhere in the engine bay ( can smell it) I suspect the manifold, either the head or the pipe side is slightly warped since the gaskets are new and the bolts tight Is this common? The manifold looks like a pretty chunky build are there any shops in Melb that can resurface these ?

Modern power antenna on original up down antenna switch
aircobra replied to scotta's topic in Electrical systems
scoota, same problem, different year. i dont have the original switch or the original antenna, but i got myself one of these universal $30 ebay specials my questions is: if you have a look at this guy's solution you'll see he's only using 2 relays and no pulse is the pulse story limited to some brands or types. i noticed that repco and supercheap both sell the same generic aeropro brand, which looks identical to the ebay unit -
dont think that will fit, but thanks for looking
-
wow. i didnt know that. maybe at some point they swapped from metal stamped to an injection molded one but kept exactly the same shape pic from nickf will reveal the mystery
-
i think they were one piece stamped metal. the plastic one is for 260 z+ with the bigger radiator. but i may be able to butcher it. do you have some pics and dimensions pls?
-
not the little tab thats at the top of radiator, but the full version that came on the auto cars if you have one, can i get a photo and some dimensions pls? I'll try to make one up why ? cause i've just finished putting in A/C into my one and I dont want the electric fans post coming on how i've managed to squeeze in an A/C in the original JDM place inside the dash

Somehow the trim has become slightly bent and stretched to the point where its no longer crimping to the joinline on the turret Does anyone know how to fix them or someone who fixes them ? It looks like it would need shrinking in some spots
-
yes it is. thank you

Hi All, I used to do my club reg through the JDM club run by Ashley from MSpares But he doesnt seem to be answering his phone Are there any other clubs that do the club reg permits for Z's? Thank you
-
yes. agree. that's where i'll be putting it. note the FICD gear -more unobtanium. i wouldnt mind fabricating it, only if i could my hand on it. by the way. where the hell are you getting all these photos?
-
right answer for the 260s, i think ( presume both pics are of 260z by looking at the extra brackets) so you can see in the 240, the drier is on the LEFT and on a vertical bracket. the only place that is possible is on the tower strut. but as you know its very close to the air filter, so it must be a very small unit placed very low on the tower. alterntively, it could be forward of the tower and placed low opposite the compressor cant believe it - a million photos of z on the net and not a single one of this setup anyway, i will post some pics soon. i've just about finished the evaporator housing
-
on the basis that i ve never seen a 240 factory setup ever. i dont actually know. the parts diagram only shows the evaporator side and not the condenser or the drier. the firewall holes on the rhd 260s were on the LEFT side, so the hoses muse have been the left. ive seen photos of 260s with the factory drier mounted in front of the radiator, not on the sides of the engine bay with so many after market jobs on both 240/60 its hard to tell
-
does anyone know where the dryer goes? on some pics on the net, the dryer is on a bracket just behind the strut tower and opposite the air cleaner. looks like there are two mounting holes there, but the dryer would be pretty close to the standard air cleaner on some others, its low just below the coil and opposite the compressor? anyone have any legit pics?
