  1. Hey guys I have recently taken my l24 apart that was in my 240z to find that the old owner had turned it into an l28 by boring it and changing the crank and other internals. As for the block he has bored it out to 86mm which is more than reccomended from what I've been reading. As the car had been in storage since the 90's I assume he had done this for cost reasons and l28 was in a reasonably new car back then?. In today's market thought I was thinking to just start with an l28 block. What could go wrong with the old block if I were to run it? Other thing is if I change to l28 it's considered an engine change so do I have to have it engineered or do I just hope whoever inspects the car doesn't notice ? Can you source just the block and what $$ am I looking at? Should I just have the old block sonic tested and if it gets the green light use it?
  2. Hey guys Done some searching and found more questions than answer for my problem. I'm trying to treat the surface rust that has build over the years in hard to get places. The two main ones being the air vent tunnel that goes from the front of the engine bay into the cabin as well as the inside of the rear quater panels. I can see these areas through all the various holes in the interior and up through the vent holes.I was reading about penetrol and think it's the way to go. Then I read to put it with a primer, I'm using epoxy primer can I put it with that? If so how will I spray the mixture in the tight areas once mixed? How do I prep the area if I can't get to it?. Has anyone just sprayed it by itself without primer and left it. Sorry about the abundance of questions but I'm a bit stuck. If anyone has treated these areas before got any advice or solutions? Thanks

  9. Thanks for the reply, would be interested to know is there a certain brand and model that's recommended? Couldn't agree with you more mate and that's probably what I will do once on the road it's just that I am rebuilding / restoring the car and figured that I should do it at least half good first time round.
  10. Hey guys Just doing some planning and number chrunching ($$) for my 240z build. I was wondering if I plan to set the car up towards track days, Tarmac rally events and the like, whilst driving on the street inbetween these events on spare weekends and when desired. Would it be best to buy the techno toy tuning suspension kit front and rear ( coilovers, control arms, camber plates and the rest of the business ) I would be happy spending this money on this kit if it's quility and recommended? Also I know that this area is were I will benifit most on the track and at events but should I spend a reasonable amount of my mechanical budget on this kit or do something else in the suspension department? If so what ? Thanks, opinions welcome

  14. Hey mate thanks for the reply I would be interested in getting the car blasted as around 1k is a lot lower than I found when I looked into this option. Is there a particular business in laverton? Would it be best to keep the car rolling or strip all the suspension off? Do I fix all the rust before the blasting or after the blasting ? Thanks
  15. Hey guys After some research didn't really come to a conclusion so thought I would ask. I am new to the whole process but want to do all the work myself, Is it alright to sand a car by hand back to bare metal?, does it damage the metal? If so what other cost effective method is there to use that doesn't damage the metal? Also if I get the car back to bare metal what should I spray it in whilst I do the rust repairs and body work to stop surface rust and other corrosion. Thanks, any input is appreciated would like to learn as much as possible

Car is also equipped with air conditioning. If you have any other questions or photos you would like to see feel free to ask I would be more than willing to help. If you are interested in the car feel free to make an offer. Contact details: PM for phone number or just communicate through PM
  25. hey, as I would like to keep the shell rolling with the rack still in it to make it easy to steer around I would rather not just sell the rack by itself. I thought you might have wanted a RHD firewall as when I was looking at importing a 240z and doing a conversion found it was somewhat essential. If you only need a rack you'd be better of dealing with a wreaker or parts yard. Sorry I couldn't help mate, good luck with your conversion should be great when it's finished
