  2. Yea I will not be welding in front of struts or rear of struts. The camber tops will be welding in by my mates dad who is a fabricator so I will mention the distortion to him and hopefully he will know what to do ha. Do you think the will distort if I wend the mounting for my strut brace on after they are welded in?

  6. Hi just a brief description and a few photos of my build so far. any input and advice is greatly appreciated. I am planning a full nut and bolt resto on this girl which will be my third z . it will have with a rb25 neo. I am goin the 25 over the 26 for ease of installation but 26 would be nice ha. it will ride on full Arizona suspension/brakes. The car will be regency approved and road registered. (regency being Adelaides vehicle inspection depot). I have pre approval for the rb25 turbo engine, fully adjustable coil overs, 300mm brakes, 9.5x17 -20 rear wheels, 8.5x17 -10 front wheels. I bought the car as an unfinished project. It was. Put in a garage in 1987 by the previous owner to restore, he cut out all the rust at the time and welded in new panels, even unstiched the rear and put a whole new rear end on. All the interior was plastic wrapped and is in near perfect condition besides a small hairline crack in the dash and a small crack behind the choke lever on the centre console. He had purchased new doors, and a new hatch. Un fortunately he sold the indicator stalk and assembly other wise the car was complete. The car then sat from 1988 as the owner got married...... Hahahaha since then it has only developed minor surface rust. I have found only 2 small rust holes one under battery and the other in the fire wall into the wiper section, both no bigger than a 5c piece. The plan is to have a very stiff loud rough awesome handling zed ha with a blend of new racing whilst retaining the old zed. The interior will be all standard with front bucket seats, all new black face gagues, basic stereo, rear strut brace, steering wheel. The exterior will have front spoiler and moulded flares. Mark Rolston on this site has made a very close car to what i have always wanted to build mine like, and mine will be quite simular So far the car is stripped completely and I am 1/2 way through seam welding. Then I will replace the chassis with 60x60 box galv from cross member to rear sub frame, cut lower radiator support out and replace with box galv, build strut supports and other bracing. Then sand blasting and rust treatment
  7. Hi do u still have these kits if so do u have photos? Cheers
  8. Yea I do name is ben turner
  9. Would be awesome if you had some photos I will look in to that as the next step after seam welding Do you mean from the top of engine bay box section and triangle it down to the bottom corner of the door sill? S it would basically run angled down from the top of the wheel down to the bottom door hinge (not exactly but as a reference as to where you are talking)?
  10. Did you buy replacements or fab some up?
  11. Forgot to mention it will be getting a lot of azc parts. Camber tops, coilovers, mustache bar, diff mout, lower control arms etc
  12. I'm maybe half way through seam welding my 78 2+2 which will get an rb25/26 treatment and looking to see where to go from here. I have been researching for months and everyone seems to go Towards the roll cage route which im hoping to stay away from as This will be a street sometimes track car and i think they are ugly. Looking to improve stiffness and hadnleing asmuch as possible. I'm strengthening the angled supports on the tear struts and adding a nice thick rear strut brace. And will be building a triangles front strut support that goes back to the fire wall where I will weld in a brace under the windscreen the whole way across the car to support the strut braces. Was also thinking of the angle supports under the front guards. My chassis rails are in really good condition so wasn't goin to touch them unless it's advices that they need beefing up. So my question is is there anything more I need or don't need to make it as good as possible whilst the car is stripped down with out resorting to a cage? And also my drivers side chassis rail is around 300mm longer than the passenger side is this normal? Ha Cheers
