My first zed was a 2+2. It was cheap a little rough but went like a rocket and never let me down. After a moment of stupidity I sold it and brought an mx-5 !! 6 months later I sold the mx-5 and started the search for a 2 seater I could afford. After a year or so I gave in and brought my gold 2+2 and it's the best thing I did . I love it! And I can actually use it with the family yet it's still plenty of fun when I'm in it alone

I agree, I don't like hanging around a car show all day but the shows I've been going to your not locked in . You can arrive when you like and leave when you like. I normally stick around long enough to have a good wonder around and then leave. I guess your average Zed driver is more interested in racing etc. that's great, the important thing is we all enjoy our Zeds. I'll still keep posting up some shows and trying to get a small group of Zeds all together for a short cruise to a show.

Stivva I'm in the same boat mate. Most of my mates think I'm crazy for owning and driving the cars I have, especially my old Landrovers! And I definately just dissapear in a crowd where ever I go. But I go for me because I enjoy my cars and like looking at other peoples pride and joys.

Good to hear guys, finally a bit of a positive touch! I first started going to some shows recently after I joined a local club for club rego and didn't want to just be another club member abusing the system. I didn't realize just how much fundraising these meets do and how the community supports them. I'm also yet to see a Hoon. There's often plenty for the kids to do. I plan to use the shows as my main fundraiser for our SBR car for next year. ( feel free to throw some donations our way )

Seems this thread went in a whole other direction, but it's fairly clear that most of you have no interest in car shows and don't think much of the bogans that do. We all choose to enjoy our cars differently and that's our own personal right. I don't judge anyone on what they do to there cars and the only ones I don't like seeing are those that are very clearly unsafe! My zed has been very well received at every show I go to and it makes me proud to own it and keeps me motivated to keep it neat and tidy. Car shows are a way I can enjoy my zed with the family too and love the fact that I have a 2+2 and am able to use and enjoy it for what it was designed for.

Well there's a Yarra Valley Chrome Bumpers meet on at bunnings Chirnside Park Vic. At 8pm on friday 14th November so I'll put it up in events and organize a short cruise there and see if I can get some company this time around

I actually haven't heard much negativity at shows everyone seems pretty open to the different styles and interests.

A few pics from last nights show in Wandin Vic. Sure there's a lot of rubbish out there but the majority of cars at the shows I've been to have been what I consider a high standard.

The events I've been going to have all been very family friendly with a great mix of cars and I've had a lot of great comments about my zed ( it's definately not the best Zed going around ) Sounds like a lot of excuses to me from people who just don't want to go to car shows.

The shows I'm referring to are relatively local and come and go as you please. Really just an excuse to take the zed out for a spin and spend an hour or so checking out some nice cars and talking to enthusiasts.

I'm just curious why I don't see more Zeds or Datsun of any type at the general car shows going around I've been to 5 shows recently and I've always been the only Zed and no more than 2 other Datsuns! Are our cars that rare? There is at least 500 cars at these shows and there not all fords and Holden's Are most Zed drivers not interested in displaying there cars? Seems to be a large amount of Datsun enthusiasts around

Ok so I got it a bit wrong I'm actually doing 2400ish at 100kph and doesn't seem a big jump from 4th to 5th so is a 3.5 a fair assumption then. Anyway thanks guys looks like I'll be going with a 3.9lsd

Yeah LSD is really just a bonus . If I do have the 0.75 5th which seems likely , then the 4.375 could be good. I'll do a road test and check it out. I really appreciate the advice guys

Well tyre size I'm running are 205/55/16 I'll have to confirm again because I'm 2nd guessing myself but I'm definately in the low 2000 rpm at 100 in 5th I've gone through all receipts and I found one for the gearbox at around $3000.00 back in 1997 but no info on what the box was or if it had been converted from auto? Ofcourse that may not be the same box in it now. If I do in fact have a diff running 3.3 or something then I'd probably be happy with a 3.7diff for the difference it would make and they are a lot cheaper and easier to get. So what's the easiest way to check the ratio in the diff? How would I work out what gearbox I have?

I took the zed for another drive this arvo and I reckon 4.375 might be a bit too low. I'm not real keen now on over 3000 revs at 100 kph when I really think about it . I definitely want a bit more up and go . Biggest problem I guess is I don't know what gearbox I'm running or what diff ratio I've got now but I'm pretty sure it would be a 3.54 or maybe even 3.3 . It currently sits a little over 2000rpm at 100kph So maybe a 3.7 will keep me happy enough aswell as lightening flywheel a bit and maybe exhaust aswell. Any help will be appreciated. I'm a real novice when it comes to mods. Thanks Joel
