JDM_240z

I got my 240z going the day before I went on holiday so I'll do my best to get it there, 20 days should be more than enough to tune the old girl.

Things have been ticking along with the project. My window seal kit should arrive this week from MSA so I'll have the windows in next week. Just need to get heater hoses, heater tap and grommets from the states. Also need some linkages for the carbs and a new radiator and it should in theory be ready to fire up.....

Thanks for clearing that up, it's what I thought. Do they have a special shaped hose or are people making there own?

Hey guys, I'm hoping some highly educated people can help. I was putting my tank back in and it had a "custom" hose made from the breather to the filler neck, I use that term custom lightly. Anyway. Upon some research I see the American model was fitted with evaporator tanks inside the right guard. Now I see my tank doesn't have 2 smaller return fittings as I assume Aussie emission standards were a lot more relaxed. My million dollar question I how is it meant to run? Straight from tank to filler neck or was my car meant to have an evap tank of sorts fitted?

The car is actually starting I look like a car again, working on it most nights The drive line is completely assembled now. Waiting on some soft mounts to arrive then it's getting stuck into the carbs. Next purchase will be a window seal kit.

After lots of swear words and a r200 diff to the side of the head (slipped off the jack while I wasn't paying attention and yes it did hurt) I got some more wrk completed on the car. The engine and gearbox are in now and engine looks quite at home ready for its triple dellortos.

It's been a long time between posts but with good reason, my painter has been working away the past few weeks on the car and I finally have it back The engine bay tidied up The boot space has had a KBS rust proofing. I went for this as I'm not trying to build a show car but it needs to b practical and look good. The paint is very hard and to prep a boot well to paint it in white would send you broke or insane, I think this looks really good. The car looks stunning and as you can appreciated there's a lot of paranoia about scratching it. I wanted to go to the wa meet today but had too much motivation to get the car together..... I mean this sitting in your drive with pretty much all the parts you need doesn't motivate you, nothing can. I managed to get the doors on and left one assembled, guards are only there for looks, they won't be fitted until the engine is in.

I was going to start putting my car together as I got it back today but I think I'll have to come have a look

Hey guys, Just wanting peoples experience with full rubber kits for the zeds. I'm mid way through a resto and about to the get body back from paint. All the windows are out and I need a rubber seal kit. My question to you, which branded kit is best? I've tried finding reviews and found some about a couple of products but a lot of reviews go off on tangents. What are peoples experience with these kits? I'm looking at the one from thezstore, I'm not out for the cheapest option I want quality that will actually fit. Let me know you thoughts, Cheers

A friend of mine used a guy and he does he prep work at home but takes it to his work to paint in the oven etc. I can't wait to get it finished

The right hand rear lower control arm caused a lot of frustration and swearing but got there eventually. They steering rack is a bit of a weird one but I'll have to get the bushes in once i get the car back as they are on back order. I can't wait to have a car back but I am very nervous about putting together and not scratching the paint, its going be like walking on egg shells in the garage when its home that's for sure

Managed to get the suspension together with a lot of sweating and negotiation. Also finished stripping the body down for paint,

Found the next issue with the bushes, in theory the split bushes work well, and don't get me wrong they do. BUT the clearance is so tight between the outer rear bottom bushes to the strut mounting there is no way I can run the supplied bushes. I'm going to have to get factory ones pressed in

Most excited I've ever been to pick up standard suspension parts Also had the first issues with the bush kit I purchased off eBay. The steering rack bushes aren't wide enough as shown in pic. Also annoyingly te kit didn't include front sway bar bushes or links so will have to purchase seperately. All the other bushes seem to fit very nicely though.

On another note I was allowed to drive my bosses targa 240z. It's stroked and bored to 3.2L and holy hell does I have some torque! It's so impressive the way it squats and takes off and the soundtrack is absolutely epic!

Hey guys, bit of an update. Things are about to get chaotic this week with getting the car rolling . I'm getting my suspension back from the sand blasters which they have also painted, here's my subframe they did earlier which looks fantastic. Cliff from SBR powder coaters did a great job. I've also had all my panels returned, panel beaten, taken back to metal and painted and they look amazing! I'm so pumped to get that car together. I have a week to get it rolling again then it's going in for its body prep and rust repairs.

This car is the twin to mine. Hopefully after my 240z restoration mine will be in similar condition, very nice looking car.

I got the bushes just off eBay, came with everything but the bloody front sway bar links. That's ok, there are some available in aus for around $30. I'll let you know how they fit up, they are VERY solid bushes. I have been working on the car as much as possible, I have completely stripped both doors for paint prep. I'm lucky with this shell being really quite straight and rust free it's making the process quite smooth Tonight I have removed the rear subframe and diff ready for bush replacement, sand blasting and painting I'm working to a very tight time schedule, this needs to be rolling for body prep and paint in 3-4 weeks. I aim to have the engine in this weekend.

Had some more goodies turn up today from the states Full suspension bush kit and my chassis paint turned up also. Big Saturday coming up, need to strip the doors ready for paint. Hopefully drop my subframe and suspension off for sand blasting tomorrow as well.

Cheers for the offer, hopefully they'll arrive late next week or the following. It gives me time to get the subframe etc done. I really want to get the drive train in the before I pull the rest of the car apart for paint, I have no garage floor left as it is. Then I can do the same with the rear subframe. I'm still deciding how I'm going to lower the car, I really want to buy the parts but I'm not sure how far to lower it yet so catch 22 really.

Got a bit more work done over the last few days. Managed to get the the brake booster and lines in, as much as I would like to put in all new master cylinder and lines but I need to draw the line somewhere otherwise it'll never be finished. Besides it retains the original character I've also pulled the subframe out for re bushing and coating. I'm going to sand blast the major components and paint them with POR 15. I'm waiting for my suspension bush set to turn up from the USA , as you can see the bushes in it are TOASt!
