G'day guys and gals I'm looking at setting up a skidpan day in march with my good friends from Slidewize Powersports from gympie. I have a few people coming and thought i would extend the invitation to all of you. All cars need to be registered. With CTP extension. Drivers need OPEN drivers license (No L's or P's) 8am - 3:30 pm $140 per car, per day. All drivers are pre-paid to enter. Entry fee includes compitmentary BBQ & soft drinks for drivers. Qualified driving instructor on hand all day to help you get better. New drivers always welcome. I have run a few days up here before and it's a great day and very little stress on the cars as its a wet pad. The pad is a good size at 60mx75m. I was keen until today. Thought I'd have a little play and drive today in preparation for tomorrows meet/ run.... Busted my throttle linkage... the plastic rose joint just decided to pop straight off and disappear.. So i regret to inform you all that i will be unable to attend... maybe next time I won't have such bad luck...

Cool as mate. Im pretty keen for it. Might be riding solo as the missus hates the lack of aircon.... Personally I hate the thought of power being choked.

Im keen for a run on the 8th, I still haven't had the coin to get the car tuned properly so it is running super rich but I am still keen for a run somewhere. As long as i get to drive the car I am happy

Holy crap has it been almost a year already? last year I still had EFI, and a horrible motor. Now i'm back in business with a fresh motor and the Triple 45's . Even if i don't get my Final tune and cant get me headers to stop glowing orange after 5 mins in time I will do my best to make it. Will be a blast.

Hey Guys Well I have decided to keep the Z and throw more money into it I have a set of 45 DCOE's (152g) coming from down south and need help with the setup and tune. From what I gather the factory weber jetting is pretty close to what it should be. I have been told that they are as following. Emulsion Tube : F16 Choke : 36mm Main Jet : 145 Air Corrector : 155 Idle Jet : 55F8 Pump Jet : 45 Whats the best starting setup bet for a close to stock motor with a fresh rebuild and shaved head running 2.5 extractors to a 2.5 exhaust. Gday Guys Looks like my project car is going. bought a car from japan as I just don't have the money to throw at an old z. The car has done my wife and myself very well for the past 5 years and now it's time to move on. The car has had some troubles but its all back on the road.... Drives and has done the last 2 thousand k's with no hiccups and been fun to drive. Model: 1983 280zx running + rolling shell Required Location: North Brisbane Required Price and Payment Conditions: eg: $3500 neg Cash preferred Item Condition: Done its miles, The car is a bit sad but the other body is in great condition minus some rust in the bonnet near the ducting Body: Daily just had a heap cut out and I bogged it just to get it by until I had dollars and Cents to swap it over to the other chassis. paint is a bit sketchy with some lifting on the bonnet and cracking near the fuel filler. Also comes with a Fully sick whale tail...... Mechanical: Running with a rolling Shell Registration: I can leave rego on but it runs out in november. Engineers Certificate: N/A Extra Info:Car has just gone a full Rebuild 8 months ago, but I had issues with timing and fuel, but got it all done now. Fresh rebuilt carby ($465) honed bores, pretty bead blasted and polished rocker cover, New dizzy, cap, button, leads, timing has all been sorted, head shaved 10 thou. runs well only drama is that the little c110 skyline carby doesn't seem to fuel it properly as wont rev past 5k. Thanks guys you have all pretty summed up my opinion on it, i was just wondering what you all thought.. There are loads of hills out the back of mine where people are on 20-30 acres and that's normally my drive line. I was just on the way home and thought eh... why not. The taking down plates issue is something i know is perfectly legal. but the coming onto my property (200M driveway) is what i thought was a bit over the top. I mean come on how pathetic is that. and the photo's or videos really can't stand up in a court of law, there is no way to verify that the speed I was traveling was over 60. Ill just make sure to key bang it past his every morning.

One a side note.. it goes pretty damn well and its all up and running

Hey guys Hope this is in the right spot, if not let me know. Coming home from work today and turned into my street. There is a nice crest about 5 houses before mine and as I just rebuilt the engine I have been taking any hill as a chance to push the car the help give it a wide range of driving to settle the engine. So I slowed down to almost a stop and put the car in 2nd and flattened it to 60 K then backed off. One of the neighbors was outside and yelled obscenities at me so i just flipped him off and coasted down to my place. within me literally walking inside, getting a beer and lighting a smoke this bloke drives down my driveway and I confronted him. I knew it was him as I have seen the car before, I told him to get off my property as this is trespassing and he just sat there wrote down my plates and started going on about he will ensure i won't have a license by next week. So of course I took down his number plate also. Look I'm not overly concerned as well i was doing the speed limit, i always do (but in a lower gear when its cold the carby doesn't like it) so what do you guys think of people like this? To me it seems like he has some issues and needs to get some help or get over it. I will admit the car is loud when I'm accelerating to 60 but its still within the legal limit by a mile. Also my area is not a small area we are all on 3-5 acre blocks and the speed limit is posted as 60 at the start of the street. Should I be concerned or should I not worry about it. Cheers Nic

Hey guys A few of you may of seen my post a week or so ago regarding my EFI to Carb dilemma and how the car is just generally running like a pig. So for those that didn't ill lay it out. It's a 83 280zx 5spd Man in black and original blue (paints flaking). December last year I ripped my spare motor out and took it to a shop and got them to rebuild it for me. upon inspection of the engine it had been rebuilt not only 20-30K ago (according to the shop) so they just stripped the engine down and honed all the bores, new rings, bearings, Shaved .010 off the head to up the compression and put it all back together. Since getting it back into the car (Feb) I had nothing but issues with fueling and spark and all sorts of things, so once i got it down to an EFI issue i replaced the injectors and it made a little difference but still would not fire on the cylinders that were causing me issues on the last engine (used the same manifold). That's when the Carb idea popped up, I had access to a full Carburetor setup off a C210 Skyline (L24) so in it went. now it runs... but barley. It misses and the only thing left that i have not changed over is the Fuel pump. Now i have 2 that i found. one is the mechanical pump and the other is an electric pump. I have not tried fitting either but that is my next step. the electric one is what i want in there because its pretty easily just plug and play. So the 2nd Z is a parts car that I bought off a guy that overheard my convo on the train one day. 83 280zx 5spd man in silver and rust 2-tone. It was running fine and was driven on the farm once a week to ensure that it still worked. Body wise you may be able to scavenge some parts off it from the outside but it does have a bit of rust, it's been a few months since I looked at it last. Interior tho is in good condition, its currently all pulled out of the car but is stored inside the car. Dash has i think 1 little crack in it, Seats may have a bit of dust dirt on em, but that's nothing a good clean can't fix. I still have 90% of the mechanical gear for it (Peter T has the old engine) but other than that i have it. So now the fun part. I'm hoping (key word there) to get around $3500 for the both (i can throw in 2 sets of 260-280 wheels with a pair of 3 piece mesh 15's and sold mesh 15's) As it all sits. The daily has rego until November but I doubt as it sits now it won't pass a road worthy. Alright so I had a hunt in one of my shed's and came across a few usefull (hopefully) items.. Found a nother carby that was on my brother in laws other skyline and that one ran petrol up until about 5 years ago. I found 2 Fuel pumps both of a L24/C210 one is mechanical and the other is an electric one. I think i will just put it up for sale.. i dont expect much but hey anything is better than a car thats just taking up space.

Okay so the issue i believe now is 100% the fuel pump my plugs are as black as night and as wet as well... water i spose. the plug gaps have been tried and to no avail. and the Dizzy was right. i moved them one left and one right but to no avail. Fuel pump is the next step i think Thanks for the help will keep you all updated.

Yeh spark was something i thought of, i did change dizzys and leads and plugs, and my timing light died about 10 mins after getting it to 10deg tdc @ 900RPM so it might not even be right haha. get paid tonight so ill get a new timing light and call the local wreckers
