  1. You're the man NZeder ... you can e-mail me at home on fairfax0@gmail.com if you want. My guess is its the same paint (I hope) but maybe with 35yrs of age and old acryllic it might look more 'poo' than orange after that long. I actually (stupidly) made an enquiry about buying a OS Giken TC24-B1 ... but then stopped !! I will stick with the L24 the car has for now as it has flat tops / webbers / extractors / electric ignition etc ... and I'm heartened to know that the Group SC race cars that run stock blocks and carbs can make the right side of 260HP ... From my time in the Porsche club, I know a well made L24 can and often does beat 2.7 RS Carreras and 3.0 Carreras ... Alternatively I was thinking about was buying a RB whatever and sticking webbers on it to make it look like a TC24 ... BUT ... the engine only gets done when i've completed the body and interior ... Per chance Nzeder .... do you know what is the make and model of the seats Office Tomitaku car are? They appear to be very narrow bodied glass backed race seats and look just right in the cabin ! Adam
  2. Guys, On colours, my 240Z is original orange underneath and its been re-sprayed in a brighter tone.. The factory colour was called "orange 918" which is what I intend to go back to by way of an outside only re-paint (given under the carpets is all stock original). My question however is, does anyone know whether the factory orange 432 and 432R's were the exact same colour?? If I do a 432 project, I want the exact same colour the factory used ... does anybody know if there was a difference b/t the standard car orange and the 432 orange?? Sorry for being pedantic ... its just me !!! Cheers Adam
  3. 'that Z place in Sydney' .... Do you mean 'all Z parts' in Hornsby? Sorry but need a bit more specific instructions as i'm not sure what place you're referring to. Many thanks. Adam
  4. Does anybody know what type/brand of front splitter appears on the car second in this series from the bottom? That is the splitter with the small rectangular holes in each outer edge? I want to chase one of these parts down?
  5. That Blue car is awesome ... Old School !! Mine will be the same without the fender flares.
  6. Hi all ... What's the view on the jap spec wing mirrors? Personally, I'm a huge fan and am going to put them on my project. What are your views? Are they legal in Australia? How many of you have used them? Just interested in peoples views on this. Cheers Adam
  7. Thanks Kent & NZeder Not sure what offset I need, however I know I want 16X8 and 16X8.5 and I note that BenZed has bought those exact wheels to put on his narrow bodied Z. Never really got a handle on that offset thing really. I will write to Ben in due course to see what offsets he used ... In the mean time I'll get saving and pray for the yen to appreciate !!!! I'm getting my car on a truck this week just in time for the Easter long weekend ... sight unseen !!!
  8. I saw a Nismo 10th sell on Ebay a few weeks ago for north of $US1000 ... This one I bought from Japan for much less, however the price was still 'crippling', like me if my wife sees what it cost me .. But they look so right on a hot Zed !.
  9. I meant to finish by saying .. I sold that Z and have just bought another project ... this wheel will be used on the new one !!
  10. Hey guys ... when I had my 240 ten years ago I longed for one of the factory 'fat' leather rimmed Datsun Steering wheels (as seen on Office Tomituka's car and other factory hot rods). Cut a long story short, I just bought one on-line. Have tried to attach a photo. Its the genuine 432/R wheel, used and in VGC. Can't wait to stick it on!!!!
  11. Sit down before reading this Gents ... Miki e-mailed me just now after chasing up the quote last night. For the exact set as seen on this thread by Kent, ie polished lip 16*8 and 16*8.5 the price is A$3500. Lucky i'm not up to the wheel decision part of my car. By the way, given unsprung weight is so vital to handling, does anyone know the weight of Watanabe wheels in 15 and 16" diameter? I spoke to Ben Zed and he said the Rota Grid is 9kg, and Rota RB is only 7.5kg ... both these are getting pretty light. Despite aesthetics, weight will form a big part of my decision. Adam.
  12. Just spoke to Miki and we discussed the Watanabe R type wheels that I am looking to purchase. In a word, Miki said he had received two e-mails from me but had not had a chance to enquire in Watanabe in Japan. He is going to make some calls tonight and e-mail me back a quote for R-Type wheels in gun-metal with machined lips, in 16*8 and 16*8.5. The wheels are the exact ones that Kent has shown above. When I get the quote I will post to let you know what the price is. One caveat however, Miki did say that due to the appreciation of the Yen, the price has risen. Cheers Adam
  13. Kent Just dialled it again .. a Japanese Lady answered and said Miki would call me and he DOES still sell wheels. Cheers
  14. Kent Just tried calling Miki on the number you posted, following two separate e-mail attempts. Thought things were fishy when I received no response to my e-mails, pleading with someone to sell me a set of Watanabe's. But the plot thickens ... Miki's number just rings out ... twice. Wonder what i'm missing. I have e-mailed BenZed to see if he's any better positioned. At this rate, I'll be buying something else! Cheers Adam
  15. Hey Pauly, my name is Adam ,,, I just sent you an essay on my car to the PM. Cheers
  16. Pauly Those wheels look awsome on your car, and for the price they seem hard to beat. I presume they're 16", but are they 7's and 8's? Also, did you do the suspension work, or have it contracted out? if so, who did it? p.s my new car will be in Syd in just a few weeks, so when it arrives I'll be able to post some photos and get a start on it.
  17. Hi Hughesy Have written to the Watanabe guy twice now to buy a set of these rims for my new project .... Despite your glowing feedback, I can't make contact with Miki .... Do you know if the business is still open? I even tried to e-mail the watenabe site directly !!! but still nothing .. Any clues to purchasing a set of RS8's would be greatly appreciated. Rgds
  18. Anybody have a spare copy of this book they'd be willing to sell? Can't wait for one from the US via Amazon.

    WTB: 240Z

Hey Lurch ... all i know is there are zeds and zeds and I reckon some people are dreamers in their expectations on pricing... My guy was much more realistic ... Not sure what I'm going to have to spend to make her perfect tho !!

    WTB: 240Z

Hi Lurch, It was no advertised, but has been sitting in some guys shed for two years ... I got his name from someone, we chatted and I bought it .. SIGHT UNSEEN !!!!! (never done that before). BUT given I got it for a 'fair' price.. and the vendor has been very very helpful, I have not missed a night's sleep just yet ... Um .. I know I can trawl for all this stuff on this site, but in your experience, who is the best supplier of Z-parts, ie rubbers (that work !!) and other Z parts? Come on Lurch, I know you know !! BTW .... I'm doing a 432R replica, complete with watanabes, Bre style front spoiler, tail etc etc. Old School !

Ladies Thanks for your collective assistance ... I bought a shiny 'new' 71 Zed !! Its in your home town VIC and I am arranging to bring to Sydney. Can't download a photo (as i can't get the size right), but she's orange, with new paint, has L24 with webbers, extractors, higher comp pistons, lower susp and electronic ignition ... Should be a total hoot !! Thanks again

Hi Guys .. am looking for a 240z in running or near running condition. If you have one, or know of one that might be coming up, i'd live to hear about it. Cheers
  24. Hi Guys .. Anybody had a Z with rusted frame rails under the engine bay? Know how much it costs to rectify? (as in cut our old and reinstate new). Is it a common problem and easily remedied? Any thoughts guys. Cheers
