  1. Does it still have the original engine? Does it have matching numbers?
  2. Yes. Check page 5 of this thread.
  3. Yummmmm! Love the black and white combo.
  4. So what that a yes or no?
  5. Was this one of Isaac Smith's cars?
  6. He obviously really love his Zed and does not really want to part with it with that price.
  7. That is one nice restored Z. I just wish I had the money, as I would have been interested in this one.
  8. Sorry to hear that. I know exactly how you feel. I too had a similar experience 12months ago, when I finally made a deal to purchase a stock 240z (even though IMO the seller was asking more for what it was, I was willing to pay it as it was what I wanted). Then two hours after making the deal, on my way to my bank to get a bank cheque drawn up, I got a phone call from the seller, informing me that he's changed his mind, and simply couldn't part with it. It was very dissapointing. So in the meantime I bought myself a 1994 MX5 Clubman. A car that I also wanted to have in my collection, and my search for a 240z continues - though I now need to save more money.
  9. For sale???
  10. Congratulations. I'm still searching for my first Z.
  11. Hi guys I was very interested on the Rota RBs as they just looked good and good value. But after doing a bit more research on the net, I'm not so sure now. They don't seem to have a very good reputation among the car enthusiast community. The general concensus suggest to stay away from them. And looking at other forums, there seems to be a lot of hard luck stories of Rota wheels breaking apart etc. to back their suggestion. Has anyone had any bad experience with the Rota RBs? I'm keen to know, as I really like them. Below are just some of the pix that shows Rota wheels exploding... Before: The original wheel has straight spokes After: Now they are bent by the engine power into the driving direction The wheel hit the brake callipers at the marked points:
  12. Personally, I won't do the whole car. A good rust proofing and regular waxing and polishing on none stone chip prone panels is as good. After all this is plastic and will dull the covered areas a little. I won't gloss as well as exposed paint. Not sure if you can get them in sheets. When she got her M3 done, they were already pre-cut to shape.
  13. It works. I have a friend whose got it on her M3. The only negative thing I can say about it is the cut line of the film over the bonnet. As they only applied the protective film about 1/3 up the bonnet of her M3, in most angles, it looks like someone has keyed her bonnet. Until you take a closer look and see it is only the edge of the film. It also does not help that her M3 is black. The only way to get around this is if the cut lines of the film exactly follows the cut lines of the bonnet, just like the Ford GT, they use in their website. But in most cars, that means covering the entire bonnet, and who'd want to do that? But if you can live with a semi-visible cut line of the film over your bonnet and side guards, then they do work extremely well.
  14. I like the colour.
  15. That is a great find. Where do people find great deals like this. I want' one. :-\
  16. Have you posted any pics?
  17. I'm trying to find where I downloaded it from. The one that I have now is very small as I had to reduce it to fit the avatar specs. Not sure if you would like it that small. I'll post the bigger version as soon as I find it.
  18. Is it too late to be included in the group buy?
  19. Thanks for the help so far. This '71 Z has both the choke and hand throttle on the centre console behind the gear stick and the ashtray in front of it. It's beginning to look like this '71 Z has an updated '72 or '73 dashboard skin. Otherwise why is the trim piece below the radio will still have the hole for the ciggie lighter? Unless this trim is incorrect. Others have suggested that this could have been an automatic which was converted to manual, hence the relocation of the ciggie lighter into the dash (i've posted a separate query about this). I hope this is not the case, as this will be a deal breaker.
  20. Hi guys I want to know if a particular 240z that I'm interested in buying is as original as the current owner say it is. It's been partially restored and would like to know if the the transmission that is on the current car is as it was when it left the factory. Currently it has a 5sp manual transmission, but based on discussions I've had with other Z lovers, has given me cause for concern that this could have been converted from an Auto to manual. Is there an organisation that I can contact and confirm this for me if I provide them both the chassis and engine number? Thanks again guys.
  21. Hi guys I'm looking at a '71 240z. However, I'm at odds, why the cigarette lighter is located on the dashboard, rather than below the radio (next to the fuse box) like so many others I've seen? And as you can see in the photo, the cover has the cigarette lighter hole in the centre console trim, yet the cigarette lighter is located in the dash. Questions I have are: 1. Did later '71 model 240z come with the cigarette lighter located in the dash as shown (which means the centre console trim with the cigarette lighter hole is not the correct trim)? or 2. All 240z came with the cigarette lighter located below the radio and the location on this one was a modification? If this is indeed a modificatoin, is it difficult to move the ciggie lighter from the dash and mount it back to its original location? How do you cover the hole left in the dash to match the rest? The attraction for me in highly considering buying this Z is its supposed originality without any modifications. Your advise will be appreciated.
  22. Which year model? There are two available from the USA on ebay that have been restored, but both are a bit pricey... 70-72 model with a vertical auto aerial switch 73-75 model(?) with a horizontal auto aerial switch (though the description says 70-73 model, I've been told that the horizontal aerial switch only came with the 260z. Is this true?) With the way the dollar is at the moment, both are over $500 aussie each.
  23. I'm keen to join you guys. Just need to secure my Z. I hope to have this finalised by next week.
  24. If you're referring to your avatar (located on the left side of the thread)...then simply go to your profile and edit your preference etc.
  25. Thanks again. Do you have the link to the exact thread @ HybridZ?
