Just got back from the Nissan/Datsun Nationals. Really good event, quite a few interesting cars there. I got plenty of clear track time too. The new brakes were a great improvement. Unfortunately I never got around to buying new tyres so my 6-year-old Falken Azenis road tyres were called into service. Apart from this (and general lack of talent ) the car performed well. I had a small problem with oil from the diff breather dripping onto the exhaust and making a lot of smoke, so I'm going to make up some sort of remote breather/tank for next time. My best time on the day was 1:11.918, which I'm sure I can improve on with some decent tyres and a few more suspension tweaks. Anyhow thanks to the Sydney Z club for putting on a great event. I'll put some more photos from the show on another thread. These are just some photos my wife took at the track.

Tick tock tick tock ... one week to go

Watanabe normally recommend a 16x8.5 -6 for the front with ZG flares, but some people prefer the 16x9 -13, which effectively sits the outer edge of the wheel 12mm further out. I think you could safely fit the 17x8.5 +4 Rotas with a 20mm spacer, as this still puts the outside edge 2mm further in than a pair of 16x9 -13s. I will include a pair of 20mm spacers if anyone wants to do this.
-
Ok I've decided to go with a fresh set of Watanabes on my 110. If anybody is interested the Rota RBs seen on this thread are for sale: Two 17x8.5 +4 with 215/45 Bridgestones, about 6mm tread Two 17x9.5 -19 with 235/45 Bridgestones, about 4mm tread The wheels are essentially brand new - never driven on. $1100 for the set.

That set turned out to be a bit pricey, but I picked up a different set. I got a Skyline badge too, still want it?

I just lost my lunch -
Agreed, VQ35/37 makes a lot more sense, compact and lightweight and far more advanced design. Did I mention I have a Z33 6-speed box for sale? ahem...
-
Yes front and rear are wider. I'll measure them when they arrive.
-
Stag was a much smaller V8, 2.5 I think? 3.0 at most
-
Ok as promised here are pics of the 25mm wider-than-normal ZG flares I can get now. They are a tad more expensive than the regular ZG flares at $330 a set. I have two sets coming in my next container so PM if you want to grab some.
-
I have now found a supplier for oversize ZG flares (about 25mm wider than the normal ZG flares). I will have them listed in my carbon/fibreglass thread as soon as I get pics: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4072.0.html

For some reason that particular badge is very hard to find, don't know why there aren't repros of it readily available. If I find a set of GT lights I will put them in, but not too fussed about that right now.

UPDATE! Yes, finally did something today. My painter finally gave me back the tail light panel and front apron, so I bolted them up and fitted all the carbon bits I brought in from Restored. They had trouble painting the rear spoiler for some reason so I'll fit that tomorrow. The Carbon bonnet is just sitting unbolted at the moment, so it doesn't line up perfectly but still looks pretty good. The carbon bumper mounted up to the original brackets and fits perfectly. The little carbon trim pieces were fine too once I enlarged the holes on the guards to help locate them properly. The long trim piece on the leading edge of the bonnet is simply held in place with double sided tape. It is so light I doubt it will need anything else. On the back had the tail-light panel smoothed over - don't plan on having any badges. With the dark bumper and trims I thought it would look better to paint the panel in body colour for contrast. A dark grey panel would make it all look a bit bland. The bootlid is sitting a bit to one side as I haven't fitted the latch again yet. Overall I think the effect is quite good, just waiting for the spoiler! Experts will note I blacked out the brake-light surrounds, making it look a bit more like a GT-R and more importantly makint the lights look simpler. Now the body is nearly finished I can get to work on the driveline and interior. I picked up a stock RB30E (R31 engine) recently for a case of beer, complete with RB20 5-speed. My plan is to register the car with this stock engine, then later fit an RB26 head with trumpets on the six throttles... but that's a way off yet.

Now I have the Datsun in my warehouse again I am doing a few things to get it ready for the Nissan/Datsun nationals. Just mounted the Microtech Dash and a Tacho. All pretty easy when you have a fibreglass dash Finally got around to replacing the rubber shift boot too - that's had a hole in it for about five years. As I mentioned in another post I also got a new strut-brace for it but like the last one it doesn't clear the injector rail... Also bolted up the all-carbon Restored bonnet to save myself another 4kg or so.

Yes, street $180, GS Hard $255, both nade by KYB

Kameari have replacement springs available for around $400 for the rear pair, socks around $200 for the pair.
-
They are similar but not identical, the Japanese panel has a long cut-out for the badge instead of an indentation. GT-R models may be a different matter.
-
brand new strut tower bar for 240Z (presumably 260Z too). I got this for my car but it doesn't clear my fuel injection rail any better than the last one. Fine for anybody else, $200 delivered.

Spotted this in my Showroom 5 minutes ago I keep it at the shop all the time now (13 Bourke St North Parramatta) so feel free to drop by for a sticky-beak and check out all the new Watanabes too

I'm in... assuming they don't knock back my application

6kg.mm front springs, 12kg rear in the 240K. Don't recall what shocks we put in the front. Rears are HSD TT-type off an MX5
