  1. Pauly I can't see any 240Z ones though ... Did he have 240Z ones in stock when you bought them, or did you buy something else?

    Rust Bullet

I was reading up on Rustbullet on this forum as well as others, and from what I understand, one of the main advantages is the lack of post-application prep work that is needed before you paint. It's also easier to remove (apprently) when compared to other solutions like POR15.
  3. :-[ Sorry about that.
  4. Lurch, Go see Joseph from Revolution Racegear in Auburn. He has a lot of seats in his showroom, so you can try them out and see what fits your body best, and what you'll find most comfortable. I have been dealing with him for around a year now, and he's very helpful. As for the cage, I might be able to help. I was researching stuff for my car, and I will probably be buying a Cusco 5 point roll-cage (I couldn't believe they made them for the S30 chassis!). I had one in my old car, and the quality was amazing. I will be likely getting it in the next 2-3 months. I am happy to help bring one for you as well if you are interested.
  5. fufu: For now, the plan is to get her cleaned up and ready for the road. I am looking at upgrading the seatbelts to something a bit safer than the lap-sashes, but other than that, I am only concerned about getting it registered and drivable for now. Lurch: Thanks Hopefully I am not going to annoy you too much by asking lots of (silly) questions. I'll be relying on your expertise (as well as many other people here) Zeddophile: I am not sure about the engine's (internal) specifications. For now, all I know is that it's an L24, and it has triple webbers on it. I have a matching strut brace for the rear as well. They might be for sale in the future. Keep your eyes on the FS section.
  6. Pauly I am happy to give you a hand if you like. Once my car is on the road, we can just meet up at a car wash and work together on it As for the bananas, um, you can keep em. I can only be bribed with a (decent) coffee or Japanese food (and beer)
  7. *edit* The car is now for sale, please see the For Sale section for details*
  8. Okay so she's in my garage now (thanks to Pete)! I'd love some help to get a few things fixed on a car to get it ready for the blue slip + registration process. From what Pete told me, this needs to be done: * Interior vacuums and wipe-down (I am doing this tonight) * Exterior wash (I will do this later this week) * Remove suspension, remove spacers / washers (original owner raised the car, don't ask me why). Bring the car back to standard height. ** NEED HELP WITH THIS ONE** * Bleed the brakes, replace with fresh fluid. ** NEED HELP WITH THIS ONE ** I was thinking of doing this on this Sunday during the day, and maybe then order some pizza and drinks and chat So, anyone keep to help?
  9. I wasn't a huge fan of the 350Z (I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either) but I think the 370Z is a great improvement, both in terms of looks, as well as engineering and performance. I never had a desire to go buy a 350Z, but I'd certainly take a second look at a 370Z. I love the new roof's slope, and the windows (mimicing the old school Z's). For those that hate it at the moment, maybe have a look at it in the flesh before you make up your mind. I hated the Evo X before and once I saw it in the flesh, I actually changed my mind.
  10. Pete I just visualised you in a hawaiian shirt and a big gold chain ... Not a good look
  11. I had a sport daily, but to be honest, it was chewing too much out of my wallet, so I decided to swap it for something that was just mechanically okay, didn't drink too much petrol, and that's about it. My opinion is that if you have a "sporty" daily, and you are an enthusiast (which I am guessing you are), the temptation to modify will be too great. Which means more money into the daily, and less money into the Z (so the Z will take forever to get on the road). I'd recommend you get something comfortable but something you know that you are very unlikely to modify, and concentrate on your Z. Well, that's what I am doing anyway, so that's my 2 cents
  12. Ben, by "guinea pig" it meant I'd like to be one of the first ones to try them out, I wasn't expecting them for free (hope that's not how you took it).
  13. Ben, what would you recommend as an insert to make a complete kit? Also, I am putting my hand up as a possible guinea pig if you are interested
  14. Out of all the cars I have bought, Pete has done way above and beyond any other person has done for me as a seller. I think he will be seeing a nice box of Asahi once this is all over for all his efforts and kindness And guys, seriously, if anyone feels like lending me and Pete a hand, we'd love some, I really really want to have the car to go for a cruise ASAP!
  15. I visit this page regularly. Mainly to dream, and get ideas. Some really nice cars are handled by Rocky Auto. I'd love to visit them one day in person
  16. Sydney Mike: Thanks I ordered plates for my Z today too (so happy I finally found something relevant and also something I liked). Hopefully will reveal it on the night (as long as RTA does what they said and delivers on time ... here's hoping)
  17. I have the 400D twin lense kit Pete is talking about. It's fantastic and other than buying new lenses for it, I can't imagine you wanting to upgrade for a few years (unless you took it very seriously and your needs exceeded the camera's abilities). I think overall, the 400D is an awesome starter semi-pro SLR. And since it's been superseded by the 450D from Canon, you can get them for a bargain these days Also, I have a Canon IXUS 90IS (pocket camera) which I carry almost everywhere, it's compact, takes great photos in almost all lighting conditions, and perfect for the times I don't want to carry my 400D. Hope that helps !
  18. If all goes well, my Z will be registered and ready for a cruise as well. If so, I am really looking forward to coming along and meeting all of you guys.
  19. That looks a thousand times better! Do they offer to do other parts of the car to match? (for example, the centre console?). Can I ask how much repairing your dash set you back?
  20. Mark: No comment, just in case my famous dad is reading this Pauly: Thanks! I appreciate it. I am going to be doing a lot of reading to get my knowledge up to speed, and then slowly start working on the car to put theory to practice (well, that's the general plan) xa1973: Thanks, I haven't gone to TAFE as yet for it, but I am hoping to ask my friends dad (who has been welding for over 20 years) to teach me so I can go and practice like you suggested
  21. Mini bump on this thread. Deposit has now been placed on my new 240 (thanks Pete!) and I am looking forward to starting work on this car, but first, some cruising and enjoyment (which is what it's really all about)
  22. Thanks Pete I am looking forward to getting the car registered and going for my first cruise with you and the other guys!
  23. Hi, Is this still for sale? Can you email me your details, I'd like to give you a call to chat about this car. My email is amirpa@gmail.com
  24. Thanks for the warm welcome and the advice guys I realise that I am probably jumping into the deep end, but gav240z said, I understand that compared to most modern cars, the S30 is relatively easy to work on. As far as getting my skills up, I am already looking into a Tafe course for welding, which as some of you said, would be very helpful. I also have a very patient and great friend who is a mechanic, and works a lot on Nissans (he has a very highly customised R32 Skyline) I have already bought one book so far, it's called "How to restore your Datsun Z Car" I am looking at getting the following books, let me know if you think they are good or not: How to Rebuild your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine Haynes Manual for 260Z: I appreciate your offer to help me along with advice once I get the car - I hope you won't regret offering the help, cuz I can already see myself asking plenty of questions I'd also love to come to one of your meets one day (in Sydney). Do you hold them regularly? If not, I'd be happy to organise something, if only to get the opportunity to oogle some Z cars
  25. Hi, My name is Amir, and I am a recent member to this forum, but a long time fan of the S30 Z. I have owned a few cars, and am currently in the process of selling my current one. My dream for a very long time now is to buy a 260Z coupe (not a 2+2), and restoring it myself from scratch, and using the project as a way to expand my knowledge about cars beyond what I know (some theory, and a little practical). I will use this post to ask my first question as well: Is it naive for someone with no background in automotive mechanics, but a lot of desire to learn and to listen, to want to complete a restoration on a Z? Looking forward to learning a lot from you guys. Amir
