I have used various deadeners in various cars (with various sucess). These include Bostik Mat, Flashtac, R&H paint on bitumen and Dynamat. In my Z, I have used dynamat as it is a "spare no expense" project for me. It is of course easy to use, looks the same as flashtac, brownbread of stinger roadkill which are just as easy to use. If you buy individual sheets then Dynamat is very expensive, but if you buy the bulk pack online, then it isnt that much different to the other brands. I cant remember what I paid, but it was less than $200 and was enough to do my firewall, tunnel and hatch floor. I just decided to spend that bit extra this time, as usually (but not always) such a reputation is earned for a reason. Online documentation is quite good too.

Did you use full 260Z struts/brakes for your conversion or a mix/match of 240Z. If suitable for 260Z, I would be interested in the CV shafts. Thanks -
Shit. Does anyone know if Rob stayed on or not? I want him to do my doors and fenders.

Car parts are taxed like a b*tch. Worse still if you are stupid enough to pay a customs broker like I did once upon a time.

Hi Ash, AllZParts in Sydney had them at one point. Good luck James

If anyone has a '77 2 seater out there, it would be great if I could double check the rear bolt pattern of your seat rails. Even better, if anyone has a phot of their '77 2 seater floor pan, I could work it out. Thanks!

I havent seen off the shelf recaro seat rails for the S30 in Australia. If you know where and how much, that would be great

Hi all, I am looking to buy some seat rails in japan to bring back to Australia, however they come in 3 models here apparently due to different bolt spacing: 69-73 74-76 76-78 Now my 260Z is a '77, however I am thinking that an Australian '77 is more than likely a Japan/US '76. I dont think the 280Z was sold in Japan, but maybe the chassis differences were carried over into the domestic 260Z's. Basically my question would be, has anyone found any seat rail differences between the Z's back in Australia, especially the 260Z's? Thanks

Yes, I did a test run of 2 sets which I think you have one of. I gave up soon after as I broke up with my gf of the time whose brother was copying the mounts for me, as well as hearing there were clearnace issues between the sump and rack (from you as well I think). For the amount of effort required, it was not worth it. Glad to hear your car has worked out though.

Hey Gavin, I have been in Japan since late last year but am heading back home for a while at the end of July. I'll drop you a message next time I see you on MSN. I am in Toyota-city which is in Aichi-prefecture. Biggest city nearby for reference would be Nagoya. James

I have been around for a while, but with the new forum layout I thought the introduction section was new. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention before I think you have seen all my pics, I havent seen my car in about a year. I used to post on other forums as "drunkenmaster" but am trying to commonise all my usernames. I wish i used an RB20 built to 2.4L now...the 25 gearbox is more of a headache than I wanted.

Looks great, wish I had know this was on. -
Herro, My name is James and I own a '77 260Z. I have owned 3x 2-seaters, 1x 2+2 and a 280zx for various reasons before settling on this car I brought across from WA because it was so straight. I also have an RB30DET waiting to go in, big brakes and coilovers already on and most of the body work including sandblasting finished. My project some of you may know has been dragging on for 3-4 years, but this has been due to living in Japan on business for about 33% of the last 3 years, as well as buying a new home in Melbourne a while ago which sapped a lot of money. I enjoy reading this forum because there is a fair bit of practical/local experience as well as down to earth helpfulness. James

そうですか。 日本語が凄いじゃん! 何時間勉強した? 今ぼくは一人で勉強している。 難しいだよ。 漢字はちょっとわからない。 豊田市住んでいる。とても退屈。 Your Japanese seems really good, better than mine anyway. I take any chance I can get to practice (like now), which is not many. I hardly speak Japanese at work because there is no time to fumble with my words. Enjoy Fukuoka, my boss comes from there and always goes on about how much nicer the people are. No snowboarding down there though!

haha...its going to be bloody hot. Was 30 degrees last week which is rediculous for May.

I am pretty sure he has more than one set and he also operates out of a store.

I dont think any engineer will write you such a letter without inspecting the car themselves as, correctly or incorrectly they may beleive they are legally implicating themselves with something that is out of their control. I doubt there is any data or a number value of how much torque the chassis will take, but if you seam weld the chassis joins and install a weld in roll cage, I think any logical persosn will see that it will be stiffer than a lot of more modern cars. However you can try your luck if you wish: http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/RoadSafety/VehicleSafety/ApprovalCertificatesVASS.htm

Nissan does not have any engineering in Australia anymore, they left about 15 years ago when the government decided to stop protecting the local industry....but thats another story. Anyway, I am not sure how it is in Norway, but in Australia it is up to the government controlled road authority to determine what can legally be driven on the roads, not the manufacturers such as Nissan. Legally, we are suppose to take our S30's with RB engines to a designated Automotive engineer licensed by the road authority to check safety and emissions. Good luck.

A couple of posts down I had a similar discussion, well, if you can call 2 posts discussion http://www.viczcar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1120

Might also be that manufacturers are only obligated to support a model for 10 years and with the countless model platforms released between now and back then, along with the data storage system of the 70's not being quite what it is today, they just dont exist anymore if they ever did. I agree however that you probably can find the orignal colour in hard to reach places as suggested. Underneath any residual bituman matting on the floor pan etc. Good luck

If you know anyone in Japan, then: http://s-garage.hp.infoseek.co.jp/gaisou1.htm or http://search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search/auc?p=s30Z+%A5%DF%A5%E9&auccat=0 If you get desperate let me know and I can put you in touch with someone but Gavin's contact below sounds easier

I am not a purist at all however I like the diagonal stitching the orignals had which look like have been recreated really well on your trims. Did this shop recover your armrests as well? Can you post who they are for future reference? Thanks.

I am interested in compiling information on what people have done in terms of centre consoles, with supplier and photos would be great. I remember Z spares in Glen Iris had some reproductions in boxes lying around the workshop, not sure if they still do or whats going on there. From memory he wanted $300. There are also reproductions in Japan but I can only find the one style without armrest pictured below. These are about $200. http://openuser.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/user/omote_3?u=;omote_3 I vaguely remember warren at allZparts in NSW mentioning he had some but i cannot confirm. If anyone knows any other sources, please let us know. Thanks
