Arizona Z Car - Rear Brake Handbrake Redesign
Charlie Boy replied to Woza01's topic in Brakes / Drivetrain Components
Ok my car is in the uk and about to go for its road test with Woza's development kit. The test (MOT) includes a test on the hand brake function. They are apparently quite fussy and put the vehicle on a rolling road and test the braking force on rear wheels. They only allow a certain amount of distance that the hand brake leaver can move up and the garage that has prepped the car think that we might have to much movement. Hopefully it will be fine but we may have to come up with a way to reduce the hand brake movement for the test here. C -
Hey Gav I'm in London, got my Z's through the other week from Melbourne and just trying to get them registered. Hi Zedevan thought I would reply to your pm here. I bought my last lot directly from Rust Bullet in Sydney think it was $15 for delivery which is up to 3 cans worth. It is an expensive product here compared to the US but I think its quite a bit better than Por15. http://www.rustbullet.com.au/epages/whitelabel4.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Dartec/Categories/2 C

Hi guy’s just to let you know Warren very kindly let me buy is development kit as my car was about to head of to the UK so it was the last chance to get them fitted. I had Daniel Moore fit them and the feed back I’ve had from him was very positive, he said the kit fitted perfect, was great quality and functioned well. I know Warren has now tweaked the design even further so I would think its better then perfect now and good to go for the group buy! Cheers Warren Charlie -
Im selling my GT-R R32 to do my Datsun 260z some tips please.
Charlie Boy replied to k1ngtr's topic in Events
Speak with Daniel Moore he can make your L26 engine into a 2.8L as basically you already have a L28 crank in your engine you just need to get the block over bored with new pistons, saves buying more stuff. -
RB25 would be your best bet, but you will end up paying as much if not more than it would cost for a rebuilt L series, you will also severly restrict you market if you ever sell the car. If you buy the car for $500 i'll give you $1000 for it and you've doubled your money in no time CB
-
Personaly I would stick with the L series engine there really is nothing wrong with them! Just that after 37 years it will need a good refresh. If it's the matching engine and you want more power then overbore the engine to 86mm and fit a L28 crank, pistons and you'll have plenty of power and a matching engine thats added a lot of value to the car. Sorry if I come over all high and mighty but please if you want to go all ricer then do it to your celicas not a 37 year old classic car :'(

I agree just offer $500 you have nothing to loose but I would think on the open market and if it's not to rusty that car would at a guess get $4000. The blue interior is worth quite a bit on it's own, you have an original radio and an un-cracked ash tray. All these things add up to a lot of $$$ if you have to go out and find them or pay over the top for ebay stuff. For you intrest I have spent far in excess of $25,000 restoring a Z so I would hope to be in a reasonable position to tell you the costs. Anyway $25,000 would be with other people doing alot of the work but you'll have to do all the leg work to get the parts together its also heavily dependant on how much metal needs replacing. You'll need a lot of new old stock parts if you want it mint? Of course if you want it to look average then just paint the outside, por 15 the engine bay and try to get that old rusty engine to work just don't show anyone under the bonnet CB

Looks like a early 71 with side vents, fibreglass centre console and hand throttle control. I would guess a chassis number between HS30 00450 and 00900. If it has a matching engine then bingo I would say around $4000-5000 depending on the extent of the rust of course. But the body panels look to only have surface rust the battery tray looks quite bad so it maybe rooted else where. Certainly need full exterior strip with blasting, the interior looks to be in good shape it looks like it will need an engine rebuild etc count on min $20000-$25000 for a basic resto I would think. C

I would be very keen to buy your set. Daniel Moore is putting the car together so it would also be good to get an experienced Datsun mechanic to verify all the fitment and function of your kit for the others interested. C -

It would be a real benefit if I could get a set in two weeks because as I've said before the car is going into a container to the uk, now delayed until 12/12 otherwise it would involve very expensive transport in the uk to mechanics etc. I'm willing to pay a bit more just for a one of set as it will be cheaper in the long run, obviously I'll understand if it's to much hassle I'll still be on for Jan anyway. - jerryb - PeterAllen - Charlie Boy -

Hi Warren, Anymore progress on this, have you managed to get your car on the road for testing? I would be intrested in a set soon if your confident that all is working well. C -
Well I'm gutted that I have to sell these but I'm finally shipping my cars back to the UK so can't use these plates anymore :'( DATSN plates are white on black, one slim line one full size. Available mid Nov to re assign. Ok I'll put a price on these of ($1000) a small price to pay to have these on your Datsun for the rest of your years and the best way to spend some of your tax refund. Tel 0406585818 or PM Charlie Edited for price
