Administrators gav240z Posted October 17, 2014 Administrators Posted October 17, 2014 So just putting this out here for now. No rush at all. Since I think I managed to score an early 'arrow' type antenna I'm continuing the theme and looking for the head unit to suit it, looks like this.. I believe the model code is: TM-1081ZA Looking for 1 in any condition. Working or busted - missing faceplate etc.. it doesn't matter. Ideally you have something that's been sitting in your garage forever and you'd like to see the back of it Would be a good project to tinker with and restore and would look the ducks nuts in my 240z . Reference photo below is HS30 00151 (sister car to #150). Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted October 17, 2014 Author Administrators Posted October 17, 2014 I was hoping to get 1 a bit cheaper than that. I don't mind if it needs restoration. That's half the fun isn't it? It does look mint though. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 19, 2014 Author Administrators Posted October 19, 2014 Sadly got outbid on this 1 the other day. http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w112939564 $150 for a non-working radio. I would have paid more too, but got outbid at the last few mins. Quote
Brabham Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Same seller has one without faceplate and knobs for $625. He restores the radios and sells them. His stuff does look immaculate. Maybe if you found a non-working one with the faceplate and knobs and then bought that one it might save you a bit. Big$ for a radio, but guessing early 240 ones are hard to come by. You going the OEM path on the gold one now Gav? Cheers Quote

Hi Dimitri, TM-1081ZB(S) appears to be the same (if maybe a little different internally?) - based on these links it appears to have the antenna switch at the right hand side. Is that what your 1 looks like? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Datsun-240Z-AM-Seek-Scan-Radio-70-71-Use-YOUR-Faceplate-Knobs-Save-Big-OEM-/251674148800 http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/electrical-s30/38124-oem-z-radio-questione.html This is what the later 71-73 radio looks like for comparison. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Datsun-240Z-AM-FM-Radio-70-73-Restored-OEM-Stunning-/291264696465 Same seller has one without faceplate and knobs for $625. I am trying to keep the car as OEM as possible. I will likely install a modern head unit somewhere out of sight like under the glove box etc.. I don't really want to use it for sound, more for keeping the interior looking correct. Quote
curtis 240z Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Hey Gav, This might be the radio that suits your car. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-Radio-/131362128136?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e95cb0108 Quote
