Hey guys,

Just wondering if you guys could give me some feedback on the way that your front bumper fits.  We are just checking that everything still fits and lines up okay before we get the car sprayed, and found that the front bumper has a hell of a lot of play where it bolts to the guards.  There is at least 20 to 30 mm on each side of the car between the bumper mount and the guards.

I had a quick look at some photos that I took of the car before the strip down and found that the bumper was not attached to the guards.  Could it be that a previous owner put a bumper from a different model on my car??

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, the car was involved in a car accident on one side of the car (before I got a hold of it).  We did have to do a little straightening out, but not to the point to effect the bumper that much.

Cheers,

There is usually a bracket on each side of the front bumper. I've noticed some people have removed them and they must bend the bumper inward on the sides to make it fit without it.

I know the rear bumpers on the 2+2 are slightly wider, but the front's should be the same. Perhaps a photo would help?

Hey Gav,

Yes there is a small steel bracket on each side of the bumper.  That's what I am measuring the space from.  I'd post a pic, but as the car is in Dromana, it'll take me to the weekend to get one.

Cheers,

I used spacers.

It lined up exactly as you said on my car.

Just used some steek spacers about 20 mm on each side.

Has been perfect ever since.

Ah okay.  Must have misplaced it in the strip down.  Not to worry as we have already reshaped the bar and it follows the shape of the car much better than what it was in the first place.  Dad just picked it up from being re-chromed and it looks fantastic.

Thanks for the info though.
