pauly_adams Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 hey guys im trying to find out if the tail shafts are different between auto and manual in a 280zx 2+2, i know that a 240z and 260z have the same shaft and i would think being the same boxes that the 280zx would also be the same. cheers pauly Quote
NZeder Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Going by the parts manual they have different part numbers manual to auto for the 280zx 2+2 240z/260z list the same partnumbers for manual/auto which is different to those of the 280zx 2+2 (that goes with out saying - different chassis design so prop shafts will be different) Quote
HKSZ Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 They'd have to be the same, even the 280zx Gbox cross member fits a 260z. I've got a couple of manual 280zx tailshafts in the shed if you want me to measure one steve Quote
pauly_adams Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 i done some more searching in the factory service manual and it only lists the 1 tail shaft length for both manual and auto, so i guess ill just have a go and see how it pans out Quote
NZeder Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Makes sense and after I posted the penny dropped the difference in part numbers will be due to the difference in the rear flange joint is my guess as manuals have R200 and autos R180. Quote
HKSZ Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 For referance my manual 2+2 shaft has a overall lenght of 97cm Quote
