i feel that i need to completely rip off the whole drivetrain on the 280, yet searching forums and googling like crazy, still didnt really help with much info.

ive read some articles on s30 getting s13 drivetrains etc.. but i have not seen a proper conversion on a 280zx, there was one which did a r32 gtst rear end conversion with "ALOT" of cutting and welding... so thats out.

Is there another way or any parts to strengthen the driveshafts on a 280zx? i dont like the feeling of having a 600hp rb26 running on a drivetrain that is 30 years old :P

use a diff from a z31 fairlady, it is a r200lsd, it has thicker half shafts etc. if you where to go to the extent of cutting etc i would use a z32 diff and shafts, they ar far stronger then the skyline ones

I have a Z31 diff in my car, from a 200ZR.

4.375 LSD with thicker CV's. You'll need to modify the front nose flange (where it connects to the tailshaft) and make some hub adaptors. Then it's pretty much a bolt in job.

Do you have pictures of this set up? I need to get my other 280 ready for time attack sessions, been holding off for 2 years just seeking parts, trial and error with different set ups

Would you rather break your gearbox or snap an axle? You could beef up the rear end of the car but that just moves your weakest link further up the drivetrain to something potentially more expensive or difficult to repair.

If you have the money and can justify over engineering every single link of your car then by all means go for it but that is my $0.02.

Rb25 neo Ppg dog box gears, custom carbon tailshaft waiting to be built when I can get the rear end done.. so I don't think nothing is going to break up that end.  So really the rear end needs to hold without destroying itself doing over 200+km
