zzzzed Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 So what's stopping making a custom plenum to make it breath for more hp? There is aleady a guy making them as far as I know. Quote
pauly_adams Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 the custom plenum helps but it is the heads that are the issues, its much more cost effective to just bolt a z32 vg in which makes power very easy. Quote
ric240z Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 definately have to keep this car too rare here not too! good find Quote
pauly_adams Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 yeh it was a good find, the fun begins tomorrow, i will post more pic up then Quote
260DET Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 So what's stopping making a custom plenum to make it breath for more hp? There is aleady a guy making them as far as I know. I'll show you a lower plenum and you will soon see the problem which is primarily because it is restrictive from the factory and can't be opened out nor is making one the usual fairly simple job, it has water passages cast into it for the heads for a start. The VG33 heads are not too bad, not great, but they are not the main problem. Simple fact is if they delivered the power the Yanks claim then there would be one in my Z right now. Instead it has a heavier VG30DET which does deliver the required power. Quote
zzzzed Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Yeh i have had my vg30et apart and I know what the lower plenum looks like. I just never thought about it before. 350hp would have been more than enough to keep me Happy in my z31 any way. One thing I have seen that I thought was cool. Some one in the states is making 4 barrel manifolds for them. I had visions of puting a vg30 with a 4barrel carb in my old 1963 blue bird wagon Quote
260DET Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Yeh there is nothing wrong with 350whp and those motors develop good torque at low revs so a very good street engine in a Z31. Even with a LSD wheel spin on street tyres would be just a touch away. I actually like those motors, they are relatively light, simple and easy to work on. Quote
260DET Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Pity that there was no racing category for the Z31 in AU, if this Murrican racer does not stir your juices then ........... Quote

Rat1314 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Pity that there was no racing category for the Z31 in AU, if this Murrican racer does not stir your juices then ........... Mmmmmm Some of the body mods that were done on some of those cars looked fantastic, mainly the wide body. Quote
