fluegel Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I have fitted a Carter 4070 pump to my 260Z it seems to be able to do the job. The problem is I am getting a slow leak at the outlet, it seems to be the tapered thread fitting. You mustn't use teflon tape or gasket goo because these will possibly dissolve in the fuel and clog up the system. Anyone out there with one of these pumps fitted to their car who can help me. I am thinking of just lubricating the thread with a bit of vaseline as apparently the teflon tape is just a lubricant the actual seal is metal to metal Richard Quote
Roberto Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Just use loctite theadlocker. It doesn't dissolve with fuel. That's what I used on mine. Quote

fluegel Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 Hows the carter pump? is it loud? i have the carter black and its so bloody noisy!! It's not too bad ,make sure you remove the restriction in the return line at the engine end, it acts as a crude pressure regulator the 4070 is a low pressure high flow pump and must not be used with a pressure regulator. Before I removed the restriction the pump was noisy. Also I am not completely happy with the way I mounted the pump I will put up pics. And also I will get my auto elestrician to wire the pump with a tacho relay so the pump only runs when the engine is running. I havn't had the car on the road yet but the pump seems to cope well when I run the engine. Quote
