I have a 1976 260z 2+2 which I am in the process of restoring. I want to upgrade the rear brake drums to rotors & calipers, but I want to upgrade the entire braking system as I will be transplanting an R34 turbo engine & manual gearbox into my Z. What other vehicle's would suit this type of performance upgrade? Not sure if it makes any difference but I will also be looking into upgrading the steering to power steering to cope with the new power. Also, who knows where you can get the conversion kit to install the R34 engine? (I haven't had a chance to look into it yet & have no idea where to start.)  :)

using the search on the site will yield you quite a few answers too.

in regards to the power steering, its a bit of a mixed bag on opinions.

once the car is moving, you wont notice any benefit to power steering, its only in carpark situations that its nice to have.

you'll probably also find that the weight between the L series and the RB engine will be fairly close.

Anyway, if you want a good look at whats involved in power steering, read through 620z's build thread on installing power steering.

As the others have pointed out, there's plenty of options for brakes.

Be wary if you buy the Castlemaine Rod Shop gearbox mount.  It takes a lot of modification to get it to fit to the 240z/260Z floorpans.  I think it may have been designed around the American 280Z as it seems to have a recess for a catalytic converter.  I know other people have had the same problem.

I'm not sure about their engine mounts as we fabricated custom ones to get the engine where we wanted it.  I think other people have used their engine mounts with no issues.

I used the AZC willwoods all round with the coilover kit. Just beware that some rear disc kits do not have a provision for a handbrake or as yanks say parkbrake. There are solutions and I guess it depends on budget and desired outcome, go with something nice and new, or go r31 rear skylines or something.

Regarding mounting......lol:) I used the Mckinney mounts, theyre are a semi solid and place the engine and gearbox perfectly for an RB swap....
