  1. Chasing outer chrome door belt for the passenger side of my 1973 240z. Its the chrome piece that sits across the top of the door (where you would rest your arm) & it clips onto the door frame. Also chasing 2 door locators (opposite sides), the little silver metal parts that I think locate the door, they have 2 bolts going into them.
  2. Hi all, I am looking for a pair of the black (I believe they are generally called 'fairlady' mirrors) fender mirrors. I have supplied a picture of what I am looking for. Does anyone know where I can gets these or does anyone have any for sale?
  3. Yeah, I've got a couple of donor roof's sitting there. Plus a heap of parts I bought from Johnny Kostic's poor Z that got wrecked.
  4. I've been on the forum for a little while now but have not been able to upload some photos of my car until now. Any handy points are welcome.
  5. I have a 1976 260z 2+2 which I am in the process of restoring. I want to upgrade the rear brake drums to rotors & calipers, but I want to upgrade the entire braking system as I will be transplanting an R34 turbo engine & manual gearbox into my Z. What other vehicle's would suit this type of performance upgrade? Not sure if it makes any difference but I will also be looking into upgrading the steering to power steering to cope with the new power. Also, who knows where you can get the conversion kit to install the R34 engine? (I haven't had a chance to look into it yet & have no idea where to start.)
  6. Ok sorry guys been a bit busy lately, but anyways, car is still doing the same thing at 2800rpm, backfiring and shooting flames out of carbys (only noticed this at night lol). Anyways since my last post i have rebuilt the carbs, put the points back on, and pretty much re-set everything, with still no luck. I was talking to a person at a local car club meet, and they mentioned because it was sitting so long (20yrs since being registered) that it may need new valve springs??? could this be a problem?? is there anyways to check the tension?? Are they easy to remove?
  7. what condition are the rear wheel arches/gaurds in?
  8. maybe i should try puttin the points back on ;(
  9. temp of motor seems to make no differece , am running NGK BP6E S
  10. Hi, I have a 240z with the L28 conversion with twin Hitachi carbies & Im pretty sure they're series one. Have a Bosch GT40R coil with pertronix electronic ignition, new rotor cap & button, new plugs & leads. Have set timing to 8 degrees btdc, have balanced carbies, have got engine idling at 700rpm & have used colour-tune to set the fuel ratio, which all seems ok. My problem is that the engine brakes down & back-fires out of the carbies at about 2,800rpm. Have tried enrichening & leaning off carbies, have tried adjusting timing, still no difference. The vacuum advance seems to be working, any ideas as to the cause??
  11. Im currently pulling the interior of my 260z apart & have discovered this sticky/protective type stuff in the spare wheel well. I want to know if there is an easier/quicker way of removing it rather than just picking it away slowly, I want to remove it for rust repair & rust protection. Plus, what is this stuff? I've had a read around & havne't gotten any answers, wondered if anyone of the forums knows about it?
  12. I've viewed this site, looks to be pretty good. I doubt Im the first one to find it though. http://www.thezstore.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT
  13. Yeah, Im cdurrently in the process of stripping it back to bare metal, I don't want to think I'v fixed it, only for rust to pop back up 5 years later. Not sure on budget, I wanna do it properly, I don't really care how long it will take me. Im just stiocking up on the replacement panels I need. There is so far only one piece that will have to be cut & re-manufactured.
  14. Have recently purchased a 1976 datsun 260z 2+2, last wednesday actually. It has rust in a small section of both chassis rails, the LHR quarter panel, both side panels & the RHR panel behind the rear coupe window & hatch (dog leg?) Anyway, what or who is good for repairing rust problems like this? I don't want to bog it because someone before me has already done that badly. Ideally I want to cut the rust out & replace the damaged panels. Any ideas?
  15. Thanks all. Will be posting some pics soon. Has some minor rust in the usual places, nothing I can't fix yet as far as I have seen. Fingers crossed.
  16. Hi & welcome. I'm a new member too. Just purchased a 2+2 to restore. Good luck with the search.
  17. I've recently purchased (today actually) a 260Z 2+2. I've been a lover of alot of the Z cars for as long as I can remember. But the 260Z has always been a kind of dream car for me. Can't wait to get started on it & begin restoring it. Will post pictures as soon as possible.
