Just following on from this thread:

http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,11415.msg115542/topicseen.html

I am fitting a Holden brake booster to complement an LS1 and Wilwood brakes and the size of the booster means I have to alter the location of the clutch pushrod to pedal mounting point. I have to mount the clutch master cylinder further towards the centre of the car (see photo).

I'm curious from the thread above about the differences in the 240Z and 260Z pedal boxes - perhaps I can swap to a 260Z box to achieve the wider spacing I need. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Funny you mention this. Just today i tried swapping a 75 260z 2 seater brake booster onto my 73 240z. Pedal box was different.

Hybrid Z forum states that they are the same (pedal boxes) and that firewall just needs re-drilling for brake booster studs. Way off in my instance.

Anyway it appears the 260z pedal box has about 1.5-2 inch difference between the brake master and clutch master cylinders. And the 260z clutch and brake pedals have a bigger curver to offset it to the right to compensate for different pedal box compared to 240z.

I've actually put up a wtb thread for a 260z pedal box, if i get it soon i'll take pics and show you what you mean.

Just realised you were referring to my wtb thread ;D.

I'll take some pics for tomorrow. You will definatly gain more room for your booster setup. I went from i think 6 inch 240z booster to a 260z 10 inch and the holes where the pushrods enter through the on the pedal boxes are a good distance apart also if i dont use the 260z pedal box and just modify my 240z one the clutch and brake pedals are noticably closer to the accelerater pedal, which wont work

Hi Peter.

I know my BMW under dash setup isnt tried and tested yet but Im very confident it will work. Its the same 19mm bore as a Commodore and Ive manged to get very long stroke out of it ....I drive a VY SS Crewman and the clutch pedal stroke is ridculously long which could cause you some problems as the stoke on the standard Z pedal is pretty short.

Ive experienced this whole bore vs stroke vs pedal effort dilema in other conversions and it can be painfull.

It's probably over 18 months since I last looked at all this but I remember doing the trigonometry until my head hurt. The donor was a VZ SS Ute and I can see what you mean about their pedal length, however some chaps on HybridZ with LSx conversions tried to use the GM clutch m/c and said the Datsun pedal overstroked them.
