Bog... best buy?

I normally use the body filler available at TAFE but I'm hoping to do some mould work between now and February. With the amount of reshaping I need to do I reckon I'll use 5 ltrs or so and wondered if I should buy a large quantity or several smaller tins. What sort of shelf life does that stuff have after a can has been first opened? Thanks.

In the boat building game, they use product called microspheres, sort of small air bubbles that are used to bu

K out bog or filler, they then "fair" or shape their panels, cabin tops sides of boat etc to finished shape then coat wth smoo, or surfacer, to seal and smooth then hit it with two pack.

 

I knew a few blokes that built 40 and 50 foot ocean going big arse catamarans, they swore by the microspheres, cos they made final shaping so much easier, and saved from using excessive amounts of bog/filler.

 

Easy enuf to coat it in gelcoat and release agent for mould making too

 

Try the boat chandler supply shops, or yelliw pages marine builders. Used to come in from 5kg bags to205 litre drum fulls.

 

No it isnt polystyrene balls, that stuff melts and turns to gooey gloop when you hit it with resin mix

I have a bag of the stuff out in the shed, but for the life of me, the brand name eludes me (old age...)

It is the S#$T!

cool looking stuff in the bag, moves like a liquid. Once you add it into your bog (or FG resin) oh my GOD does it make sanding easier!!!
