I read online that people can put bmw 4s and 6s cams into there l28s is this true and is it for higher rpms or? i think if it does with high boost it would work out great for horsepower!

yeh man! Works heeps good coz the L series motor is based on a mercedes motor anyways.

Buy a cam and try it!

And when you discover it is totally useless in a turbo application, i'll buy it off you!

Your first thread? Have a bit of a look at rhe forum hints and tips etc, ie introduce yourself, let us know your hopes and aspirations, what you do and have, let us get to know a bit about you,

BTW the "bmw" cam is a copy of a grind that was used on the mid 1980's group A 635 csi touring cars, it was a bit of an experiment done by a very well regarded Sydney engine builder, Frank Gardener heard about what was being done, and grabbed a few, found they worked well on the 635's.

It is a "sort of" 76 degree works Nissan grind, modified, it then got adapted for four cylinders with good results.

Unfortunately it is totally useless, due to the aggressivemess and duration timing for any boosted application, you need less duration, less centre timing than the cam you are talking about.

Now i have fully informed you, you can now do me the coutesy of passing on to me the detauls of who and whete you got the info on this bmw cam for sale!

I have also saved you about $1000 of ypur money, and a heap of ypur time and effort!!!

Well in my area i have a lot of junkyards right around me and io have all of there numbers, i would just keep calling them until the right car came in go pull the cam then take it to my friends at the machine shop and have them refresh it. So on these cams is it cause there is to much intake duration on the intake and not enough on the exhaust or? cause that would make sense to me cause i know on forced induction you want more exhaust out and dont care to much for the intake

I suggest you pose your question here: http://forums.hybridz.org/  as I'm afraid we don't speak 'American'...

280zxboost, i'd suggest stick with the cam you have in the car now, do the mods you are proposing, maybe one or two at a time, do some autocross or 1/4 mile work to test what gives best gains.

Yes thecam duration and timing is not so critical compared to non turbo applications, but best to discuss with maybe one of the US based Nissan performance shops, as they will have a better understanding of your Cali emissions requirements, and what you can get away with.

We dont have the heavy restrictions here in Oz!

Keep usosted on how you get on, a few here could be intetested, as the ZXTurbo was not sold in this country!
