Sirpent Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Thought I would share some snaps from my recent NZ holiday, figure it would be interesting to see some of the places we all visit and get a thread going where members can post a few pics. So Scoota, would be nice to see some pics of those "Croatian Bar maids" when you get a minute also We visited the South island, Queenstown was our base and then we travelled to the various ski fields in the region, I have to say that some of the roads like the one between Queenstown and Wanaka would leave a wet patch of satisfaction in Lurches draws, winding twisting hill climb and descends all the way, at one stage the good woman sitting in the seat next to me broke a nail clawring the dash and breaking my train of concentration or rather day dreaming of driving my RS32, I quickly backed off from the 130 kph that the speedo was showing The first pic was taken from our apartment at the Oak Shores on the lake, 2 km's out of central Queenstown, looking across to the "Remarkables" mountain range, on the opposite side of this range are the ski slopes. Second pic is of the boys and myself at the top of "Cardrona" another ski field around 50 kms from Queenstown Third pic, half way point on the drive down from the top of the "Remarkables" back to Queenstown, 14 kms of winding gravel track top to bottom. Fourth pic is looking down from the top run of "Treble Cone" another mountain we visited and just outside Wanaka some 90 kms outside Queenstown. Sorry about the quality, I had to re-size some of these as they are extremely large composites we did of separate shots that my son did some PS work on to form panoramic views. I also have a vid, some 5 minutes long taken on my last run for the day with a camera taped to my ski goggles, 2km run in about 2 minutes down hill, average of about 60 kph, will probably post it on Youtube for any speed freaks or interested parties wanting to see what a Kamikaze ski run is like Cheers John Quote
