Gyra Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Hi folks, I need a small amount of sheet steel to make up some repair patches. ie a 50 cent size rust hole in a guard, (and a hand size section for, ahem, a VW that followed me home one day...) Any recommended sources in Melbourne? And no, I'm not going to cut up the beetle for donor metal. Thanks in advance! Gaz Quote
handsandwhich Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 If that's all you need, just drop into a sheetmetal place with a couple beers in hand and grab some offcuts from the floor. You might even get some pieces from their scrap bin for nothin. I bet if you looked hard enough, you'd find pieces like that lying around the house. Hey, had an idea. You need a piece the size of a 50 cent piece? How bout welding a 50 cent piece as a patch? Or is that a "fiddy cent" sized patch? He's a pretty big bloke so that patch would be a fair bit bigger. G-Uuuunit! Quote
Retro Z Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Not sure how far you are away but there R.D.S steel on mcintyre rd,Sunshine. And Robot industries on ballarat rd, sunshine. They sell quite large quantities and if its just a small peice your after, just ask your local panel beater for some scrap or a damaged panel they are throwing out Quote
MaygZ Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 You could go to your local wreckers (or panel beaters) and buy a guard off them. It obviously doesn't matter what sort of guard. You can cut this up. You could try Romsey Panels and tell them Simon sent you and you may just get it for nicks Quote
